CHEAP high calorie meals

Hey I am trying to gain weight and I'm having a hard time reaching my daily goal of 2200, I would like to eat 2500. I'm a big snacker and eat low calorie meals which is probably why I'm not gaining. Has anyone got any meal ideas that are cheap and high in calories? Thanks in advance

Michalina’s the frozen entrees are on sale for $0.87 Cdn at the moment. They just created a lean line to compete with Lean Cuisine & Smart Ones (which go on sale for $1.97 weekly) which are great for me losing weight and eating lower cals b/c original Michalina’s is very high in calories and fat which is what you are looking for.
Keep these meals to 1 a day though to ensure you don't go over in sodium. Eat lots of nuts to up your cals/fat a healthy wy (unsalted again, to minimuze high sodium). Peanuts are the cheapest usually.0 -

There isn't anything inherently unhealthy about fast food but some common suggestions for those struggling to meet their calorie goals include:
Full Fat Dairy
Nuts
Nut Butters
Avocado
Oils and Butter
Fattier cuts of meat
My choices would be:
Wine
Gelato

Not sure what you mean by that. Without exercise, it'll all come on mostly as fat no matter where the excess calories come from. With exercise, not so much, no matter where the excess calories come from.

Beans, whole grains -- both are cheap, healthy and relatively calorie-dense.0

- Pasta...I love a good bolognese
- Eat legumes
- Peanut Butter sandwiches
- Eat nuts
- Full fat dairy products
- Full fat salad dressings
- Fattier cuts of meat
- Roast or saute veggies in oil

I mean I have to watch my sugar intake so "healthier" foods that dont contain lots of sugar. I dont have a McDonalds near me but I have a KFC lol. I'm not a big nut lover :disagree:0

A banana is very, very healthy, very very cheap, and incredibly high in sugars.0

I have absolutely no problem eating 2300 calories or more. I eat mostly healthy foods some not so much. I start my day almost every morning with an avocado, yogurt and granola. Other healthy high calorie foods is eggs, almonds, peanut butter and I love Dempster protein bread. Also quinoa is great for healthy calories and lots of protein and fiber.0

What type of low calorie meals do you eat? Add olive oil based dressings, avocado, seeds, cheese to salads to up the calorie count. Coat your food in oil before cooking. Fat adds calories very quickly and it is both healthy and delicious.0

Snack on trail mix throughout the day. Make your own with mixed nuts, dried fruit, seeds, grains and whatever else you want to add to save money.
Have a glass of full fat milk with every meal. It will add around 150 kcal to each meal. It's also easier to consume more calories in liquid form than in solid form. You can even make weight gain milkshakes with 1 cup of milk, a spoonful of peanut butter, a banana and cocoa powder.0 -
What made me gain weight even with eating healthy was eating 1,500+ in fruits a ton of bananas to. Also just loading up on carbs (good carbs) mad me gain like 5 pounds in close to a month.0

make yourself sandwiches with long, nice, crunchy, fresh baguette .....put some "healthy" food inside...tuna etc. That could be in total more than 1000calls. It's down to calories when gaining or losing weight but remember to maintain healthy style and provide sufficient daily amount of protein, carbs and fat.0

Just a bit of sausage will add a lot of fat and cals to any meal. Sausages keep for a long time. Put them in an omelette or pasta; sautee them with lentils and onion, garlic & red wine. You can add bacon to a lot of things, too. It's nice with bowtie pasta, peas, and a bit of cream.
Greek yogurt as a topping on everything (soups, potatoes, chilis) will give you protein and cals
Ground beef is cheap and you can make tons of things with it - chili, bolognese, lasagna, meatballs, burgers, meatloaf, stuffed peppers
Comfort food in general - homemade mac and cheese is nice (i like to add green beans, you could put bacon in this too)

Chicken thighs are cheap. This is a great recipe - Moroccan tagine with dried apricots and prunes (can get those from a bulk store)

Chicken breasts stuffed with whatever you want (nice with canned peaches), coated in breadcrumbs & baked, served with creamed corn & potatoes
Pork's usually cheap - schnitzel with a marinara sauce & mozzarella, or with cabbage, sour cream and potatoes
Mashed potatoes, potatoes gratinee, twice baked potatoes
Rice & pasta - super cheap, calorific
Ha. a lot of that is stuff i'd like to make more often, lol0 -
also - greek yogurt is expensive, but i know people make it at home0
