I started attempting to lose weight in January and lost 16 pounds. I'm 5 5 and weigh 170. I'm going to Jamaica next month and I was hoping to be at 150 or at minimum in the 160s. I have cut my calories 1000 and then realize that I may be in starvation mode so went to 1200. I work out generally seven days a week on the treadmill for about 40 minutes. I also watch what IE although sometimes I generally eat a skinny cow bar if I'm having a chocolate craving but still below my calorie count. I also purchase resistance bands although I don't see them helping
Please send me any suggestions I am desperate for help

You've lost 16 pounds in less than three months. You're clearly doing alright. Losing any faster isn't healthy, and isn't likely given that you don't have that much left to lose.
Is your MFP set for 2lb/week? You may want to scale it back to only 1, and then eat back 50-75% of your exercise calories (MFP over-estimates, so staying slightly under helps). Some folks find that by eating a little more, they feel better, so move more and actually end up losing more weight.0 -
I would recommend treating your weightloss as a long term project rather than "I need to hurry up and get skinny before my vacation!!!". Be consistent! Doing cardio 40 minutes/ day is great. I'd incorporate weight lifting, too.0

No, I'm doing it wrong. I've only lost 5 lbs since January. haha (j/k about doing it wrong, but not about the 5 lbs).
I agree, 16 lbs in three months is right on schedule with long term sustainable weight loss.0 -

If you're working out like that you still might be in starvation mode
Up your calories 1300 and see if that helps. Increase calories slowly tho. I'd ip them 50 calories a week until you reach 1300 or 1400.
1200 is low for someone who is really active

You're doing amazing!!! Your weightloss is great. Be patient
It's a life long process to stay healthy0 -
Add more protein and pick up some weights. Cardio weightloss is really hard to maintain, because it takes a long time to burn calories and people tend to eat them right back. If you do some strength training you will create muscle. Muscle burns more calories than fat so your metabolism will kick into gear. You sound like you are doing amazing though. So congratulations and good luck! Have fun in Jamaica!0
