    Nah, don't so that if you're looking to increase strength.

    OP - as the first poster suggested, Starting Strength, Strong Lifts, New Rules of Lifting for Women (NROLW). Google any of those - there will be a wealth of information available on the web for each of them.

    EDIT: Though totally unfamiliar with it myself, I've heard many women enjoy some of the workouts from Bret Contreras as well, which seems to emphasize some areas (glutes!) that might help generate curves.

    My wife just started Strong Lifts again today. She likes that its simple and predicable. As to gaining strength while gaining weight.. I wouldn't do it any other way. I try to hit a new PR every time I go to the gym, making sure to keep the intensity high. I saw good gains with that last year and expect that I will see the same this year.

    I worked out Monday and my lower body is sore but I can't get my upper body strength I guess I have to lift heavier weights

    this ..or strong lifts, or new rules of lifting ….

    find a beginner program and stick to it….don't try to design your own ...

    Look up StrongLifts 5x5, very good basic program.....
    Progressive overload
    Follow that, and eat to where you are gaining about 1 - 1.5 lbs / week.
    If you are at a decent weight to begin with, then maybe stay around 1lb / week.

    Starting Strength, Stronglifts, icecream fitness as mentioned. Also Strong Curves is a good one, if you're all about the booty :)
