Okay, I've seen all the calculators online.

I'm 31 -- I'm definitely not losing at 2100 a day or 2200 a day or whatever ends up getting recommended for moderate weight loss for a desk job guy who is active 3x a week.

In hindsight, it seems kind of foolish to assume the computer could account for every person's unique makeup.

That said, it also gives me a little pang of doubt when I see someone say "Oh 1900 calories a day!? I'd be starving! I maintain at 2,400!"

I mean, there's a huge potential variance in BMR right? Just because IIFYM says my BMR is 1800 doesn't actually place it there. It's just a starting point.

Or am I way off base here? Have I invoked the dreaded "starvation mode"? I suspect not. I think the computer is wrong.

That sounds right. You're calculated BMR is just a guess. The Katch-McCardle equation is the most accurate if you know your LBM accurately.

I'm 28, 6" 0', 184 pounds and need to eat about 1800 cal to lose
