half of a microwaved sweet potato, half of a banana (mashed in) and a dash of cinnamon. SO GOOD. Needs a protein for a meal but it is so yummy, it is like dessert. Sweet tooth is back in line.

I don't like sweet potatoes could you find out a way to make it without a sweet potato0

why microwaved…?
why would you combine a sweet potato and a banana?

Glad it works for you, OP. I just eat chocolate or cookies or both.0

I used to take half of a butternut squash and heat it up with some cinnamon and a tad of butter for dinner. Extremely filling and helped with my sweet tooth.0

100% sincere question …what does eating stuff with sugar in it, do for a "sweet tooth"…why not just have a serving of ice cream, or something?0
-
Well... actually, for me I guess it was more that I was too full to eat anything else hahaha, and didn't want to buy ice cream because I believed it to be a lot less healthy. I also used to find it much more difficult to stop myself from consuming the whole thing of ice cream.
These days I'd probably just go for the ice cream, but less of it. Maybe I should go back to the squash, I dunno. It was super filling, at least. And actually really good.0 -

why is ice cream unhealthy? It has protein/fats/carbs…
I just had a serving and it fit into my day perfectly ….0 -

Today you can offer me some ice cream and I will accept it with open arms!
Though I am willing to bet having a bowl of blueberries is healthier, with all the nutrients 'n all. Sometimes I take a bowl of frozen blueberries and put milk over them. It freezes and creates a sort of "makeshift ice cream.'' Also really good. But regular ice cream is ok too, as long as you don't consume the whole tub

Reminds me:
For a sweet tooth you can put milk or cream over frozen fruit to create the makeshift ice cream as I suggested. If you want it to be more sweet, honey works very well though I usually just leave that off. You can also substitute greek yogurt for the milk/cream.... now I'm craving the stuff.0 -

I don't have the info but I am guessing that blueberries would be more nutrient dense then ice cream. However, if person X has already hit their micro nutrient targets for day, then why not fill in with ice cream?
so if you had blue berries with breakfast and ice cream for dessert does that make your day less healthy?0 -
Those are both perfectly healthy, in my opinion. If you're already taking in your nutrients, why not go for the ice cream if you enjoy it?0

so then ice cream is not inherently unhealthy, right?0 -
I always want baked goods or chocolate so I am trying to help the sweet tooth craving by eating flavored yogurts. May not be the best calories but definitely less then a Twinkie and better for me with the calcium and cultures. Some of the new flavors are pretty good. I don't buy the fruit on the bottom ones though.0

you do realize that 20 grams of apple sugar = 20 grams of ice cream sugar, right?
why would one be addicted to fruit sugar but not ice cream sugar?
that's like saying I am only alcoholic when I drink liquor, but I am fine around beer....0 -
What I'm saying is that instead of going for the junk food that they are addicted to (back in my binging days, I never devoured a bag of apples), they will choose apples or another fruit, which contain plenty of fiber and more vitamins than ice cream. People can certainly develop an addiction for a specific junk food, and avoiding ice cream if you are uncontrollable around it and developing tastes for fruit could lead them to make better decisions regarding food. Everyone's different though. Some people can eat ice cream every day and it's perfectly healthy and they will never binge.0

but why is ice cream "junk"...? You just said that if you have blueberries and ice cream in your day that it would be "healthy"..
what you are failing to see is that overall diet and dosage of food is what matter, not one individual food choice.
I am not going to go down the path of food addiction in this thread...but I fail to see how one could say "well I can't control myself around ice cream, because I am addicted to the sugar, and then in the same breath say, but yea, I can just eat one apple, because that is good sugar." < I am sorry but that is an issue of will power and self control, and not because one form of sugar is better than another.0 -
The sugar thing was something else entirely. It's more about the fiber and vitamins you can get from the fruit, because yes, sugar is sugar. When I said some people might want to avoid too much ice cream because it's too sugary, these people should be moderating their sugar intake period. I'm not saying that one sugar is better than the other. That being said....
I definitely think that blueberries are healthier than ice cream if I take a look at their compared nutritional values. I do NOT think it is unhealthy to sit down with a bowl of ice cream. In fact, I recommend sitting down with a bowl of ice cream every once in a while, unless you won't be able to stop yourself or it's really a problem for you. Ice cream is good, and one bowl is not going to kill you. If it fits in your daily calorie goal or whatever, then all is good. People will react to it in different ways, though. I'm not one to judge. Just do what works best for you.
