Carry calories over!

Hi - is there a facility to carry calories over. Eg if you know you have a party or something special to go to where you know you'll be exceeding your daily allowance. Is it possible to bank calories through the week so you can use them on a specific day instead?
Thanks in advance

Yes, sure you can do that. You can't log your banked calories on fitness pal, but if you overeat one day after having "saved" calories for a few days previously it will still balance out in your overall weekly calorie report. Don't be under eating regularly though, metabolism and all that!0

Yep sure, just + or - calories with 'quick add'0

definitely
a great tool for this is on the phone app, go to nutrition, and click the tab for weekly, it will show you a bar graph of your intake over a week with and average at the end1 -

Yeah this is the route I would take too. Fat loss & muscle gain is a slow process, so it really comes down to your weekly calorie goal being on target anyways0 -

This is how I usually do it too... but, if I really want to target something in the middle of the week and want to make sure I don't eat more than X more calories on that day. Then I would log a personal exercise "Banked Calories" that burns X calories so MFP adjust my calorie goal for that day.0 -
I never noticed the weekly option before under nutrition! What a great tool.0

For me I keep it in a 3 day range rather than a week. If I try to bank more than that, I tend not to see results. However, having one really high day every 3-4 weeks isn't a big deal. For me it causes a snowball effect. It becomes weekly and then slides to twice a week and before I know it I'm just not paying attention and I start gaining...0

This does not work for me while I am trying to lose weight but it is what I do to maintain my weight.0

Thank tou ladies - that is really helpful. I was adjusting up or down on my goals to take it into account! I will definitely start using the weekly calories tool from now on x0
