I don't like water. Will diet coke do instead?

Diet coke is absolutely not an adequate substitution for water. There are *a lot* of chemicals in diet coke. In fact, it's really not good for you at all. My suggestion: force yourself to drink water. It will be less painful via a straw. To make it a bit more enjoyable for you, try crystal-lite or drinking a white tea or herbal tisane brewed/steeped for less than 60 seconds so that it is very weak but still flavorful. It's a good way to wean yourself off flavors and onto pure water. Maybe you have really disgusting water where you're at. Try Ayala's herbal waters or metromint waters. Or maybe a brita filter. Lemon is a great addition as well.
Good luck!0 -

I hate water too, even more with lemon or anything in it ! What is anyone thoughts on fresh brewed unsweet iced tea with sweet n low or splenda?
better than soda but the caffeine will dehydrate you thus requiring you to drink 1 extra glass of water for each caffeinated beverage you drink...so not really getting you there anyway.0 -

See the article above...and I suggest checking your facts before stating them.0 -
I read somewhere online that iced water is best forget why, I sometimes prefer it to room temp water, especially if I'm exercising0

People are throwing studies out that dispute other studies and some trust one study over another and some studies are a bunch of crap. Whose to say that the study that says we need 8 glasses of water isn't a bunch of hooey too? :-)
I still think soda is not a replacement for water and I believe whether or not we need 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 100, or 1000 glasses of water a day, we still need it so just drink up. It's just not that dawgone bad. Think about this too when you are at your favorite restaurant, especially if you are a good tipper and have a family of four.
Soda about $2.50 x 4 = $10 + 20% = $2 so you just spent an extra $12 on your night out
[TAP] Water about $0.00 x 4 = $0.00 + 20% = $0.00 so you just saved $12 on your night out
My whole family drinks water probably 90% of the time when we go out to eat. My kids are allowed to order whatever they want, but for whatever reason they have been choosing water for years. Likely it's because my wife and I generally choose water so they mimic what we do.

The scientific process is checking theories as the process improves. I fail to see why keeping up on current information is a bad thing.
Some people are republicans to the death and some are democrats to the death regardless of what their respective party has done or is doing. I'm independent because I want to be open to whatever I feel most comfortable with at the time of the vote.
I do try to do as much research about something as I can, but it really gets confusing when there's nearly a 1 for 1 ratio on proving and disproving something. Look at this whole posting regarding whether or not someone can drink a diet coke instead of a glass of water. It's insane and I helped fuel the insanity.0 -

Ice water is good because your body has to work harder to heat it to body temp, thus, you burn a few more calories. Not sure how much that accounts for in the long run, but hey, every little bit helps, right?0 -
I have found that drinking flavored tea with a little sweetener (pick your poison) is a good and healthy way to substitute water if you don't like the taste. It is low in caffeine and if you aren't a fan of "tea", White Tea has a SUPER mild flavor and is loaded with antioxidants and no caffeine. I have just fallen in love with this store: www.teavana.com. Check it out. I think this is a great and healthier alternative to CrystalLite too!0
