If you still want to cut them down - log for a week, identify where your carbs are coming from and figure out how to sub them for proteins and fats instead.

It's hard to give much more specific advice without knowing how much you want to cut them out. I have seen people just wanting to shift them from 60% of their intake to 40%, all the way to the wage war on carb don't eat more than 40g a day group, their diets will be drastically different.

Do you have a medical condition that would require you to cut carbs?

No medical condition, just seem to eat way to many carbs. Thanks for the advice. It's just figuring out how to balance everything out I suppose. Like I said new to this, finding it difficult. Thanks .

You need advice on how to eat less of something? Just put less on your plate. But I'm firmly in the pro-carb camp.

Can't see your diary but I'll have a guess:
You're eating cereal or toast for breakfast, probably with fruit juice. Drop the juice, and switch to eggs or yoghurt some days.

You're having a scone or biscuit mid morning - swap for a piece of cheese or some nuts.
You have a sandwich for lunch - swap for soup or a salad.
You have potato/ rice/ pasta with your dinner - swap for cauliflower rice, courgette pasta, or a side salad.

Doesn't have to be drastic, doesn't have to be every meal or every day. Only you can log your food and see where you could make changes......if you really feel the need.

Eat good carbs like wholemeal bread/pasta etc. Sweet potato, pumpkin... Swap some stuff to have more protein instead of carbs. No need to go all anti-carb if your body is ok with carbs just choose better carbs.

Aim for complex carbs... I think if you just focus on your caloric intake, you will find high carb foods working their way out as you don't get a lot of bang for the buck. If you eat clean, that whole carb thing will work out.

Just logging your everyday foods for a while reveals a lot about calorie density and macronutrient breakdown of various foods. Then it simply comes down to reading labels and making choices. But try and make those choices something you think you can stick to long term.

By the way "carbs" are a bit of a trigger word on here and trigger a Pavlovian response from both sides of the carbs are the Devil / carbs are wonderful debate.

Why you want to go for low carbs, any medico reasons or just fancy ?
If you still want to go low, there are so many brilliant ideas already. Go for non-veg and try to avoid simple carbs in grains along with pasta, pizza, cookies, cakes etc.
But remember body need carbs too.

maybe we could have less fights on the subject if we were compelled to spell them "carbohydrates"

But fighting burns calories and the subject is also hugely entertaining! ;)

Anyway time to go cycling (while eating c. 50g of carbs per hour). But mustn't put context into a carb debate as I think that's against the "rules"....

Ah no, you can fight just fine also if there is a context
