I lost about 10 KG...but..

ok so I lost about 10 KGs in the past month or so...
10 x 2.2? 22.2 lbs ...I think this is the conversion.
Anyway, so I lost 10 KGs through exercising and on a strict 1,200 - 1,500 diet.
So I must have been really overweight or something because people don't see the difference on me. the 10 KGs I am assuming must have been either from the water weight...or the fat from my stomach area because I do see the difference when I look at myself a month ago and now...
Obviously, when I meet people I haven't seen for awhile...they don't even notice at all.
I guess for the next 10 KGs lost...it would mostly focus on my stomach then? This weight loss thing is complicated since it doesn't pick an area to lose the weight...though I am glad the fat is disappearing from the stomach.

You should be very proud of yourself for losing 10 kg! That's quite a lot, especially for a month. If you feel happier about your body who cares what anyone else notices. Besides, people could have noticed and just not have said anything, you know what I mean? Good job with your weight loss and once again, if you are happy with your progress who cares if others notice!0

I thought the 10 KGs, would have been spread out all around the body...but I guess you are right. People might have not mentioned it. Thanks for the reply~

On the Dutch forum, someone posted an entry that you alone will notice the first 4 kg, your partner will only notice after 8 kg, others will only notice after 12 kg. So be patiënt, and enjoy your 'secret' progress!0

Try not to get too bogged down in the detail, just enjoy the loss and keep heading in the right direction.0
-
People might not mention it because it can seem rude to comment on other people's bodies.
This doesn't mean that you aren't making good progress!0 -
Yea. Thanks for the replies. I guess I got a bit too excited due to progress so I wanted to hear something...yet not one person mentioned it...I think that is what got me disappointed. The more reasons to keep moving forward!0

Also some people feel they're being rude if they bring up weight loss or gain, so feel more comfortable not mentioning it at all.0
-
I have also found some people wont say anything because they are jealous. sad but true0

Yup. Especially if you don't know the person that well. "Hello Ma'am, is your previously huge, fat bottom getting a tinsy bit smaller? I thought I noticed something, carry on!"

I lost 50lbs before people began to notice. Then I started to get those "Are you healthy?" questions.0

A good friend joined me for a walk last October and said: "join me at the gym; you've been walking for months and haven't lost a pound."
Yup. 30+ invisible pounds not lost!
It depends on your body shape, your clothes, how long they haven't seen you, whether they are observant, and whether your relationship is such that they feel free to comment.0 -
I lost more than 25 pounds (so about 12.5% of my body weight) before I started hearing compliments.0

I've lost over 12kgs since the beginning of this year, and I've been asked if I'm anorexic!jackstraw67201 wrote: »I lost 50lbs before people began to notice. Then I started to get those "Are you healthy?" questions.
I hate the fact that just because you want to make a change in your life - a good change that is, that other's think there is something wrong with you!!

Or Sir.
That's another thing--everybody seems to feel like they have a right to have an opinion on a woman's body, but I wonder if men get as much feedback, good or bad.0 -
27 lbs. here and only my husband has noticed. That doesn't bother me - I'm mostly doing it to stop feeling so awful, and that's happening.
I don't like compliments on my body very much anyway, though. I feel like my body is my business.0 -

Actually, I think men get grief for being overweight too, and often in a much harsher way, at least amongst one another. I'm sure this isn't every single man, but most of the guys I've known will literally slap one another's tummy (lightly) and ask when it's due or stare at the tummy with a laugh, "Oh, so THAT'S where my beer's been hiding, I was wondering where that went" or some other really awful (to me, anyway) comment. At least once in a while.
My husband says he gets a lot of "joking" comments at work (that really hurt) and I remember one time when we were at my husband's friend's pool, my husband's shirt got wet and he asked if he could borrow one of his friend's shirt and the friend stared at my husband's belly, laughed and said, "Um, I REALLY don't think my shirt is going to fit YOU, dude."
Stuff like that.
My father-in-law makes comments to my husband too, it makes me want to claw his (my father-in-law's) eyes out. Instead I hold that in and I'll look at my husband and then back at my father-in-law and say, "Dave's (my husband) still got it." Or something to that effect.
This isn't a beer-swillin' classless bunch, either (usually). Not top-tier but mostly upper-middle-class, middle or upper management group. But about this one issue? I don't see much class going on and throughout my life I haven't, when it's aimed at men. Men are supposed to "be tough" and "just take the truth."
I don't see this as a feminist issue or something only women deal with. JMO.

Interesting. I've certainly seen men giving each other the kind of ribbing you describe.
Now I am wondering about the kinds of experiences that men have with compliments and feedback as they lose.
It sounds like your husband's family has a really negative dynamic going on. I bet that if he lost weight, he wouldn't get a lot of positive comments at all.0 -
I am pretty good at hiding the weight gain, so the loss will stay hidden for a while too.0
-
I lost 24lbs and people haven't noticed..those that did thought I looked okay before (and I really didn't)..others think I don't need to lose more. I felt hurt at first that no one saw it but now I don't care.I only have to wake up each day to me and be happy with my choices and journey..Well done on a good weight loss x0
-
I am surprised there are many people who habe experienced the same thing. I always did my hardest to get my results...yet people didnt say anything so my hard work felt as if it wasnt worth it. But as all of you have mentioned...its not about them. As long as I enjoy what I see, I should be grateful for that.0

For myself:
Family have been giving me grief, that I've lost to much weight, I look gaunt, whatever. Everyone in my family is heavy, I can't say if they're just used to everyone being heavy or whatever their reason.
Male co-workers have been saying things like "eat a sandwich." Again, many of them eat pretty heavily so maybe it's just they're not used to someone not doing so.
Female co-workers are mixed. Some say I'm disappearing, others say I'm looking good.
Neighbors show a little concern because admittedly the last bulk of the weight came off faster than even I expected. Usually I get asked if everything's alright, if I'm healthy, but they accept my answer then proceed to tell me I look good.0 -

this. I guess I am the same as in I wouldn't bring someone's weight gain or loss into a conversation. Yet, now that I have lost some noticeable weight I don't understand why no one talks about it. And wonder if it is only me. But no, the scales say the same thing0
