Those darn "bingo wings!"

Hello, everyone! I am new to MyFitnessPal but love it already! Hope I can get some fellow supporters after I begin my regimen.

Anyway, here's my main issue. I am in generally good shape. I ran cross country, I completed the Insanity program, but my ARM fat remains--or 'bingo wings' as some call it.

I really want to just get rid of them in a month's time (I have this huge event soon in which I wanna show off these babies)...is that a possibility, and if so, what shall I do?! I want to shred off that flab and turn it into a toned or lean look.

PS- I am beginning the 30 day Insanity Asylum challenge tomorrow which is cardio and strength training based! (Hopefully that will suffice for interval and cardio training)

Thanks everyone!!

You can't spot reduce. Eat in a calorie deficit and you'll lose from all over. And with just 10 pounds to lose, it probably won't happen in a month.

Hey, malibu927, thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned I'm also beginning the 30 day Insanity Asylum workout which is heavy cardio and strength training. I would be performing arm exercises along side of it.

Please re-read the reply which states "you can't spot reduce."

Yup. It's where your body wants to store that last amount of over-fat (since you say you're overall in good shape). But it's still excess fat and it still will only go down by eating less than you expend. :)

Good luck...a lot of us have that "one problem spot" but it's true: you just can't spot-reduce.

I wonder why they're called bingo wings?

No matter how much weight I lose I still have the dreaded flabby arms. I suspect I'd need to do some heavy duty lifting over a long period of time to sort those bad boys out. I could be wrong though.

In nearly four months of working out vigorously 5x per week with a combination of cardio, bodyweight strength training, and heavy lifting (as of 2 months ago), I have lost 3 inches in my waist and 2 inches in my hips. Arms? .25 inches.

You can't spot reduce, as the others have said. Your body will let go of fat where it wants to and when it wants to.

Thanks, everyone! I absolutely understand the idea that one cannot spot reduce, I know it! But hopefully, with the right diet, my continuation of Insanity the Asylum workout video, and on-the-side arm workout videos, I can reduce overall body fat, INCLUDING some fat off those flabby arms! I mean I can tone up though which would give off the illusion, perhaps? Wishful thinking, wishful thinking...

Lift and swim--both are great for toned arms!

If by "toning up" you mean gaining muscle, you won't be able to do that with cardio/resistance training (which is what Insanity and the like are) and being in a calorie deficit. For that you need a progressive heavy lifting program and a calorie surplus, and even then it's very hard for women to build muscle mass.

But if you mean losing fat to reveal the muscle that's already there, and retaining muscle while losing weight, then what you're doing should work. Just don't be disappointed if your body decides it wants to lose the fat from your butt, thighs or boobs first, before it gets around to your arms. :)

I still have them sadly. And my arms are pretty toned and muscular... but there are some stretch marks/loose skin that pretty much makes it hopeless.

Thanks a lot, Ingrunert. I think this training should help me get where I want to be. (By the way, you're right! I meant losing fat to reveal the muscle that has been worked over the course of a couple months)

I call them "Aunt Louise Arms" and I HATE them but part is age and part is just waiting time when losing. If anyone can figure out a way to make them pretty again, PLEASE let me know LOL.
