Yes for sure I have lost 134 lbs using this app. I have learned after 46 years on earth that I can't be trusted with food intake. lol I was 450 lbs last August. You don't get to 450 by making good food choices. I have now realized that I just don't have a healthy relationship with food so I need a place like this to help me out. Feel free to add me for additional support. I plan on being here for a long time.

Are you counting? Is so, is it or is it not working for u?

There are a lot of MFP that are counting to lose weight, counting to maintain weight, counting for fitness, training, etc.. So the population is wide and reasons are numerous.

What are your goals, etc... :)

I prefer tight weight to loose weight.

    But yes, calorie counting works.

I use it for the community board. Counting calories is the least of my worries.

If losing 15lbs in 100 days and being 1lb from goal weight is success - I'm thinking it's working. Now, I'm starting to ease into maintenance, which oddly is harder than losing.

I am still a bit in denial myself, but sadly yes, it is all about calories in Vs. Calories out. I miss my calories in....

Absolutely. And I don't shy away from tasty treats as long as they fit in my calorie goal.

    It CAN'T not work, Bro.

It's guaranteed to work for everyone.

    Physics and Chemistry, right?

Surely it works for everyone that does it properly? If its not working then its because you arent doing it right or there is some medical issue.

even with a medical issue it still works .. it just might be lower calories and medication that are effective

Yes, but not just calorie counting. The food data also provides the nutrient levels for a given food. That is, IMHO, equally important.

The app isn't what does the work. You are. It's only going to work if you count calories accurately and set sensible goals.

The app doesn't do anything...the people do the work!

But if you're comitted to weighing what you eat, logging it accurately and being a little wary with eating back exercise cals (MFP over estimates I think) then it is an extremely helpful tool to!

I'm weebling at the moment as always but I'm around 1st 7lb down since January.

I don't know how many succeed and how many fail. What is sure is that MFP gives you the tools, but you have to make the commitment.

It has been working for me (lost about 15lbs over 5 months) because rather than 'diets' which focus on what I can't eat, this allows me the ability to budget for the items I love to eat. It is very freeing in that way.

It works for sure, but you need to log accurately for it to work.
  • I've lost 20.5 pounds in 5 months...but 7.5 pounds of that total has come since using this app over the last 3 weeks. I'm definitely sold on the importance of logging all foods you eat and counting calories!

Yes. If you are honest about what you are eating, you accurately measure what you are eating, and you don't give up if you are following the plan but the numbers aren't IMMEDIATELY showing up. I can't tell you how many people I see get discouraged when they don't see a loss on the scale for a week or two. It takes time.
