Hello Everyone, I'm just getting started and I am a little confused. I've looked at tons of sites and videos and nothing seems to cover this... I'm not sure why.. maybe my mind is not working correctly. Anyway, this is my problem. When I go to log a meal, for example All Natural Quaker Oats, it gives the measures for 1/2 cup and whole cup (40g). Now this morning I ate 47 grams of Oatmeal. Do I have to figure this in decimal form for the serving size? It does not appear I can just enter 47g as one would logically think is applicable. Egg beaters for example is another one. I ate 236g this morning, but the screen is listing in tablespoons only. I think I'm missing something :( . I appreciate any help guys!

Just looking up Quaker Oats I found several and a few with grams instead of cups. Although I am not sure they are the specific "All natural" ones you are eating. Otherwise there is an option to log you own "foods" and fill in all of the nutrition information then it will be saved for next time to want to log the same foods.

Sometimes you have to search for the right one that has the measurement you prefer to use. it can be a pain at time. I stick with general measurements. cups, teaspoons, and ounces.

Just go to your "Food" tab and then click "My Foods" and them "create food".

You seem to be off to a great start because you are weighing your food!

On this site as you enter your food select from the pulldown menu the unit of measurement and it should be there in grams, then just enter the number of grams.
Sometimes its 100g so you have to enter it as a proportion 40g as 0.4 etc.

If you cant see grams then look for it as another entry in the database where grams have been input. You cnat see it becayse the person who entered it didnt enter those details i.e it isnt there.

If you cant see it in the database then you cand make a custom entry. there are plenty of sites plus the packet where you cna get the details.

This. I log apples that have calories per 100g like this: 250g apple = 2.5 serviings

Some things you'll end up measuring volume, some you'll do weight. For instance when you make the oatmeal, it should be easy to use a cup or half cup. When you want to know a chicken breast, you'd weight it.

The only things that should be measured in volume are liquids. Solids should be weighed, as half a cup can easily come out to be more than what the manufacturer says for the weight.

OP, you can either make new entries going by the gram or use the old ones, both entering in the amount you ate (the calculation says 1.175 servings for the oatmeal). With fruits/vegetables/meats it's easier, since you can readily find entries per 100g.
