Low carb for 3 days - less bloated face already

Really noticeable (been having less than 100 grs carbs a day) and my face is already less bloated. Also no cravings, have a jar of pickles in the fridge if I feel like picking. Although low carbs works for me I am only going to do this 3 days a week and vary my ways of eating so I do not get bored and introduce exercise. I stuck to my calories (1470) and have not been hungry. Also lost 2 kilos. Really helpful to read all the comments - the pickles idea was from one of the members.

A MFp member suggested to keep a jar of sweet pickled gherkins handy so when a craving occurs you grab one (instead of a cookie). They are quite satisfying as they are sweet/ sour (you find them in all the shops in the UK).
I think my diary is public but yesterday's menu was: breakfast (3 rashers of bacon, two eggs) with one tab of oil - when cooked I wipe off as much oil as poss; lunch home made soup (made without potatoes). Onions, carrots, leeks and zucchini cooked in 50 grs butter and 2 chicken stock cubes added. Delicious. One slice bread. Evening meal I cooked onions, 3 peppers, garlic with a bit of oil and fajita spice and a large breast of chicken, this is fajita filling but I did not have the tortillas. Snacks were Shape yoghurts (0% fat). For low fat diets, have a look at the Scarsdale diet, popular here although in need of updating as about 50 years old, I am sure Dr Tarnower would have changed a bit but really works. Good luck.

Blaugh! No thank you. If I want a cookie I will eat a cookie. Pickles would never satisfy a cookie craving for me.

Only last week I was eating a whole packet of cookies in one sitting. I have been told I need to go on blood pressure tablets in the near future if I do not lose weight. So quite an incentive to try to clean my act.

I have less than 100g of carbs in my diet too. I've recently gone gluten free as I noticed gluten made me bloat and left me with lack of energy.

Presumably they can have them on the other 4 days per week. Everything in moderation, right?

I despise vinegar with the fiery passion of a thousand burning suns.

Not sure how eating pickles (which are high in sodium) will reduce bloating, but, OK.

Also, if they are sweet gherkins, they aren't the "freebie" that sour dills are because SUGARZ. (which is still evil, right? I mean, unless it's purified by a process of adding color and adhering to the outside of a marshmallow shaped like a baby chicken, of course)

That's wonderful you are feeling better.

As to the bold part: what if it's a cookie you need instead of the pickle? Both are perfectly good foods, but the point is moderation and to fit foods you like into your calorie goals.

50 grams of butter seems like an awful lot. I grill fish for the man and I using only about 8 grams of butter.

Ah, that makes sense to stay away from the food until you can moderate. For years I couldn't have anything sweet in my house because my self-control meter was broken. Now, you should see my cabinets, and they don't empty out fast anymore. :)

50 grams of butter for 6 portions of homemade soup so not too bad. Prefer to saute my veggies in butter rather than oil before I add water - that is a Belgian thing.
