It still stores/counts your data, it just won't give you a projection of what you would lose in 5 weeks because it doesn't want to encourage eating disordered behavior (eating starvation levels just to see the tiny number that pops up as you projection). It isn't healthy that you aren't eating enough food that you're getting that warning... fuel your body properly during weight loss! You are supposed to MEET that goal, not undercut it (unless it is really set high and you really aren't hungry, then it might be okay sometimes... but not at 1200).

If your calorie target is 1200, this is because it is not recommended to eat less than 1200 for health reasons. So MFP doesn't reward the behaviour.

Of course, if your calorie target is 1200, you are sometimes going to come in a bit under, and it isn't as satisfying to go a bit over, either. So probably you should just not take it personally. :) You can also just not bother "submitting" your diary. The info is still there, it just won't post to your friend feed.

(DO try to net at least around 1200 on the regular though, meaning after exercise. It's better for your health -- hair, skin, heart and other muscles, nails, mental wellbeing, and so on.)

Yup, my suggestion is to eat as close to your calorie limit as you can..that is your goal, not your upper limit. The point is to eat that amount, not as far below that as possible.

So yeah, MFP is not going to reward and encourage under eating / eating disorders.

Your day does still count btw, you just dont get to see how much youd weigh if you keep eating that way.
