Keep doing what you're doing and give it time. How do you feel health wise? I pay more attention to that than my scale generally.0

Always weigh yourself first thing in the morning, after you've used the bathroom. Your weight fluctuates like crazy throughout the day due to food, water retention, etc. You did not "gain" 5 pounds. Your body is likely just full of food and water. Exercise can make your muscles retain water, too.
I recommend you weigh yourself once a week at the most. You'll drive yourself crazy checking your weight more than that. Just stay on track and you will see progress. Slow and steady wins the race!0 -
The scale is weighing your whole body, you know. Hair. Muscle. Food working its way through your system. Water.
You will weigh something different throughout the day, as you eat, use the washroom, drink, etc. Going up 5 lbs after working out, hitting the steam room, and then drinking some water means... absolutely nothing whatsoever.
Weigh in the mornings, after using the toilet, naked, before consuming anything. This will give you the most *comparable* numbers. You will still see tons of fluctuations -- if you change your workouts, if you eat more sodium, or less, more carbs, or less, drink more water, or less, are ovulating, or not, are near or on your period, or not, etc. But seeing them will help you learn that it's normal, and always has been, always will be.
If you WILL panic every time, stop weighing, or weigh incredibly infrequently. Personally, I dislike this option, because what if the ONE day I weigh is a day I'm retaining a lot of water? Then I'll think I haven't lost anything, when I have. But seriously though. Don't attach your feelings to the scale, you'll drive yourself crazy for nothing.
Take measurements. Take pictures. Chill out.0 -
Try weighing in first thing in the morning, after you use the bathroom and before you eat breakfast. Preferably naked too!
When you work out your muscles retain water, and then to drink 32 oz of water right before weighing would add 2lbs right there! Weighing any time of day other than the morning, and any way other than naked post-pee/pre-breaky, is going to lead to unreliable numbers. How much you ate for lunch, how hard you exercised, how much water or salt from that day, how heavy your clothes etc - too many factors to make a person crazy.
Don't stress about the gain! Get a good night sleep and weigh again in the morning. You will be much happier with that number!0
