I'm new to the site. I figured this would be a great place to record my nutrition. I've been told that documenting everything from what you eat, you're strength training work outs, and cardio routines will help reach your goals faster.
I recently moved back to my hometown to help out my mother who recently found out she has colon cancer. While living with my roommate, I ballooned to 280 lbs. I'd say it was the booze, but the unhealthy eating habits did not help at all. Once I found out about the disease that is slowly killing my mother, I decided I needed to make changes.
My first phase was to completely cut out alcohol. I went from drinking a 12 pack of tall boys a day to absolutely nothing. If I said it was easy, I would be lying to everyone. Considering how I used booze to deal with a lot of my issues in my past, it was hard to stop cold turkey. Well that was more then 2 months ago, and I haven't looked back. The other part of phase 1 was to get back to proper, and healthier eating habits. I went from barely eating and just gorging on pizza and Wendy's (fried foods basically), to a more natural nutrition plan that includes, almonds / almond milk, lean proteins, lots of green vegetables, fruits, beans and whey protein.
I have officially started phase 2 of my plan (go figure on April Fools Day). I have cut out the tobacco now (hard since I am a chef in a restaurant), started a brand new strength training program, and have decided to start recording what I eat so I can fine tune my macro and micro nutrient levels. So far I've lost 40 lbs, the goal to end phase 2 will see me lose another 30 to get down to 210 lbs.
There's a short version of my story, I'm a little more then halfway now. My mind is a lot more clear and focused now without all that garbage that was clogging my system. I used to suffer from sleep apnea and chest pains. I'll say the sleep apnea is still present although it's been reduced by at least 50% if not more. I no longer suffer chest or lower back pain.
Feel free to add me as a friend. The plan is to record everything I do daily and share / give advice to those that seek it. I'm hoping there is an app for this website on the iphone store. This would make my life a lot easier.
Take care everyone and keep aiming for the stars.
