You'll find a lot of people here: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum-the-lcd-group

And this is the easiest way to set your macros: http://keto-calculator.ankerl.com/

You don't have to be full keto for the calculator to work, just set the carbs where you want them, and answer the rest of the questions truthfully.

Cool deal thank you I appreciate it I feel like I'm filling myself with nothing but oil and grease to be honest with you. I definitely want to cut out the carbs and for me cutting out dairy was a decision that I made that has benefited me with my allergies and my skin. I love cheese and sour cream don't get me wrong i'm just having a really hard time meeting my goals I guess she would say and truthfully I don't even know what to set them. I've done like four different keto calculators and it's just not working for me

What deficit are you using? If you go above 30%, which isn't really a good idea anyway, it will give you wonky numbers, and make your protein higher than fat, which it's really not supposed to do.

Worked, -42 lbs in 6 months. About 5C / 25P / 70F using MFPs standard steps. 20 or 30P or even 35 may be OK too. Carbs are 5 or 10, fats to make 100.

Here's an example yesterday I had fajitas seasoned chicken green and red peppers and onions . No bread. I had a little bit of guacamole. I also had 10 olives sausage taco meat some green beans and chicken and spinach. Literally the only things that I had the whole day. I want to run my calorie intake and it said that I had 58 g of carbs. I definitely had the most fat and protein and then carbs but it's frustrating Lynn every day I'm gonna from my carb intake and I have not had one single bit of anything refined white rice no nuts no bread no chips no anything of that sort. I'm supposedly eating exactly what I'm supposed to if that makes sense.

Can I ask why you want to do low carb, especially if it is frustrating you so much?

I did Atkins for about a year and a half but it was before I discovered MFP so there was no logging involved, just counting carbs. It worked in the sense that I lost 40 lbs. but I eventually found it to be unsustainable and I gained everything back - and then some. The biggest problems for me were the monotony of the diet and always having to make my own special food. The rest of my family wasn't on the diet. So while they were eating lasagna for dinner and homemade apple pie for dessert, I'd find myself making yet another bunless hamburger with nuts for dessert. Yay. And I swear I was going to grow a beak and start clucking if I ate One. More. Damn. Egg. Whenever I fell off the wagon, Atkins punished me by making me repeat the two week 20g induction phase. Very harsh.

Nowadays I just count calories which means eating anything and everything, just in smaller portions than what I used to. If I do overeat one day, I simply make up for it by eating less over the next day or two. I personally find this far simpler and easier to sustain. I'm down 85 lbs from my peak weight and have been able to keep it off for over two years now.

That's funny.... Made me smile. Did you only lose 40 in one year????? And not understanding is what's frustrating...I'm eating a crap ton of meat and feeling like I'm gonna have a clogged artery..... I'm a nurse so I get the physiological objective but a week into it feels very unhealthy

Run blood work now and in a month or two, or if you had any done before you started, compare it. Most people find their bp, triglycerides and A1C go down, HDL goes up. LDL takes longer to drop in some people, but within a year, should be normal. For the cholesterol related numbers, that's mainly true no matter how you lose weight, but the point is that eating hf doesn't hinder them.

Guess I should have mentioned that. On the positive side, I never felt hungry on Atkins and your cravings really do subside. Like you said, all that meat and all those eggs really makes you feel full. But in the end I think it worked too well in that regard. Eating became monotonous and given that I had to also make my own food separate from the rest of my family, it also became a chore that alienated me from the rest of my household. Eating out, away from home with friends or family was a nightmare. I was That Guy who either brought along his special food or else I had to tell a fib about the big lunch I had in the hopes of not offending Aunt Gertrude who made her signature potato salad for everyone. I ultimately decided I just didn't want to live that way for the rest of my life.

Tabatha, I think you are not seeing some "hidden carbs". Your seasoning for your chicken probably had some, your peppers and onions had some, your guac had some, your green beans and spinach had some. You literally have to look at every food you enter and count your carbs as you go if you are truly wanting to keep it under a certain number. I have been doing less than 20g for a while now, and I have lost over 50 pounds, my B/P is lower, my cholesterol levels are lower, and I feel so much better. I am a nurse also and I will not say it is for everyone, but for me it works. You just have to be careful, plan and log everything and learn what and how much of something you can have and stick to it.
