Just managed to hit the 10k steps mark for the second day
Yesterday made an effort and went for a walk in with my wife
Today walked to the hospital rather than walk saved the cost of parking and got my steps into the bargain

Id rather try and get the step in as part of my day rather than in addition wondered if others that have tips on getting steps into day route

also not sure how many calories to allow myself to eat back have yesterday and today just put it in as an hours walk given me 299 to eat back seems a bit high but the app for the digicare eri says its even higher at over 500

walking during my lunch break helps me clear my mind.
Also, if my day is too crazy at work. My family goes for a walk after dinner. My goal is 5 days a week hit 10,000 steps.

Take the stairs instead of lifts/escalators, as agbmom556 said walk at lunch if you can (I get 7,000 steps in at lunch alone), drink more water so that you'll go to the toilet more often :P

If you also start making an effort to walk faster, it won't take long before your natural walking speed increases, which is useful to get more steps in if you go for walks for set amounts of time rather than set distances. I now walk about 3 times the distance at work than I used to, which of course means 3 times as many steps, and way more calories burned.

For knowing how many calories to eat back I'd recommend a Fitbit if you don't mind paying the money for one. I use the Fitbit One and it's generally thought to be reasonably accurate, and syncs automatically with MFP to add on the calories that you've burnt. It knows your height, weight and exactly how far you walked, so no need to worry about knowing exactly how long you were walking for or stuff like that. The Fitbit Zip is quite cheap if you don't want to spend the money on the more expensive ones. They're still not perfect when it comes to estimating calories, but they're better than the generic estimations on MFP.

Parking at the wrong end of the car park and walking from one place to another rather than driving helps me. Walking fast (for me) is 120 steps/minute so 1h25 of walking or at least moving around is required per day.

I get my 10k in usually even having a desk job.

Between getting water, going to the printer, bathroom, going outside to vape and visiting instead of emailing yah it's not that bad...and then when I get home tidying my home, getting meals ready etc...my walks are just extra.

Typically if I go for a walk i get in 20k

as for the calories eat them or some of them if you feel hungry would be my suggestion.

I never really "go for a walk". I've got to have a destination or a reason to go somewhere. This is why the supermarket I go is 3.5 miles from my house. There are at least three much closer.

I live in a city, so this is probably easier for me than for lots, but the very first thing I did when deciding to get back into shape was decide I'd walk anywhere I could. I do almost all my errands (shopping and such) either walking or on my bike. I also often get off a stop early or walk part way to work when commuting and when there's an overly long wait I ignore any feelings of embarrassment and walk back and forth on the platform.
