Hi,

I was wondering how I can possibly burn 1000 calories a day as a lightweight female person? Any suggestions?

Many thanks!

2 hours at medium intensity running, or bike riding should do the trick.

Ha, sorry I suggested this too after your post. Sadly, I usually come in just under 1000 for a 10 miler. *sigh*

Same here - usually takes me about 12 miles to hit 1000.

    Many thanks for your answers!

Just to add: I do not have a tracker so I usually count in only half of the calories in MFP. So it would have to be 2000 cal or 1000 real calories then...

And I need to do it today to balance out....

It's such a bummer. Of course, I'm not running 10 for the calories, but it's a nice bonus. Also, I usually eat a cheeseburger and fries afterward so it all evens out.

Bike 30 miles and should roughly burn 1000+ calories. That's about 3-4 hours bicycling around 12 mph.

I'm sorry - what do you mean by "real calories" ? Are there other kinds of calories out there? Also, you can get a HRM for about $30 on Amazon, I love mine.

Same time on the elliptical as running would be, assuming you kept the resistance and your rate up. 12 miles. If you keep up a 15 minutes mile, that's only 3 hours.

I burned maybe 400 calories when I ran 5 miles at my slow pace lol... I burn more calories walking at an incline. 450 in one hour with a 8% incline. So I guess to burn 1000 I'd have to do it for 2 hours and 15 minutes or something... which is just not happening.

Breathing. You probably burn over 1300 calories a day just existing. What is your TDEE?

Ehh - bad answer. Not a good idea to "exercise bulimia" your way out of eating too much... That is a downward spiral into a bad place.

I would like to work off some overeating and see whether I can make this challenge. It is not intended for everyday! I am in the mood for sports, too. I should maybe add that I prefer doing long low intensity over any high intensity hardcore stuff...
Many thanks for all of your help again! By the way-do you all have trackers? If so which ones?

Does anyone know how much slow running in place approximately burns?

If you are talking "low intensity" be prepared to spend 3 or 4 hours working on that 1000...

I have a Polar HT4 and oops! Sorry, it was not $30, I paid $55 for it. Worth it, though.

If you don't normally do that insensity of physical activity...i.e. regularly run or bike long distances in short times, I'd say it's a bad idea to try to burn 2000 calories in one shot. A really bad idea.

10,000 steps a day is about 800 calories

    I'm a relatively lightweight female person (5'4", 126lbs) and I don't think I would burn anywhere near 1000 calories running 10 miles.

I took it to mean her actual burn, not the machine's readout or MFP over-estimation.

I'm 5'3" and hover between 130-134 and I burn almost 100 calories per mile.
