Workout clothes for difficult bodies? Recommendations?

I didn't really know which forum to post this in.. I figured this was suitable.
I have a huge problem with workout clothes - my large butt makes every workout pant go see-through, and larger sizes simply drop off my waist and result in me having to pull them up constantly, while still being see-through (or turning so after a few washes).

I don't really have the money to shell out on a completely new workout wardrobe every month when they go see-through again.. Even tights and leggings underneath don't help.
Now, fit ladies and gents - any recommendations in brands? Someone who caters for a small waist with a large butt?

Thanks :*

EDIT - MORE INFO
I'm 5'11 tall, I need those for lifting + cardio (hence why I prefer a tighter fit - flared pants drive me a bit nuts..)
I'm okay with any length, from shorts to ankle length..

What do you do for exercise? In other words what types of clothing do you need? Do you exercise in public?

I just saw where you are 5'11" (wow)... more info please... :):)

Compression capris and pants might be your answer over plan yoga capris and pants!

I currently have the problem of my jeans being loose around the waist, but tight on my butt/thighs too. I wear mesh panel compression capris from Old Navy. They're tight everywhere and the fabric is really good quality. I've put 'em through at least a dozen washes and they're not even close to degrading to the point where the butt might be see-through. They're pretty cheap too! I got 'em on sale for ~$16 a pair!

Don't wear yoga pants and leggings? How about track suit bottoms, cotton capris and shorts etc? These are usual from rather thick cotton or cotton-lycra combinations, so definitely not see through plus most have adjustable waists.

Wear tights and then actual shorts on top of them?

I have some types of yoga pants that I like but I don't have the brands atm, I'll try and look them up later and post them for you. I usually just pick mine up at TJ Maxx. I have about 10 pairs of yoga pants and my first ones from 4 years ago are only just now about ready to wear out. I also recommend wearing black underwear with black yoga pants. Get the ones that are thick and slightly shiny. Also, don't dry them! Wash them on gentle cycle with baby shampoo and then let them hang dry they should last a heck of a lot longer then just a couple of washes. Another thing you can do is buy the larger size and just take a sewing machine and nip in the waste... unless you don't have one.

That sounds awesome! I'm gonna see whether I can find some :)

As I said in my opening post, wearing stuff underneath doesnt help :(

I handwash all my workout pants, and airdry - no drying!

by shorts I mean nike shorts or something along those lines that don't go see through because they don't have stretch to them in the back - they also have a second layer underneath I just said wear the tights in case you really want the extra coverage on your legs like some people do. Maybe yoga pants just don't work for you? I mean I have a bit of a problem so I have to buy a size up from where I usually would so the fabric isn't stretched to its limit in order to accommodate my butt, but with a tighter fitting top, and a higher rise waist on them they don't tend to fall down on me.

I've tried Nike, I find them even worse than lower price brands.. I'm really not bothered about how I look while working out, but I don't like pants to swish around me, haha!
  • I like athleta, victoria secret yoga pants and lululemon. I know lulu had a problem a few years ago with see through pants, but I must have missed that pair. I truly have come to detest Old Navy. The cheap fabrics are really uncomfortable on an lengthy runs. Having said that, I'm wearing ON shorts in my profile pic, and I'm happy with their shorts.

*I have a big butt but probably not a waist as tiny as yours.

Thank you, thats very helpful! I haven't thought about VS because none of their bras fit me so I usually never go but that might be a good address :) Thanks!

Maybe try tennis skirts? They have shorts underneath and a looser fitting skirt on top. Kinda cute.

I wear Nike ones, since I like the dry fit fabric.

idk... some people arent into it, but it works for me. Leaves me feeling cool like shorts would, but hides larger thighs

Buy specialist running tights with a tie waist. The material is much sturdier than general workout wear and doesn't do see-through, plus the elastic plus tie means they don't fall down.

That's true...anything with a tie waist. But most of my nike pants have a tie waist, and she said she'd tried Nike...

Any brand suggestions in particular? I bought two running tights with tie waist from Karrimor a year back and I find them to be very see-through.. Maybe I need a different brand?

Looking at your pictures, your but just looks totally normal and healthy sized. It doesn't look ridiculously big in relation to your waist. I and many of the people at my gym have the same type of figure, and it's not that hard to find quality workout gear. Is it possible that you're being overly picky?

Try fabletics by Kate Hudson! I really like the fact that I can try them on and they pay for the returns if they don't fit well. They have really cute workout gear for different types of workouts!! http://www.fabletics.com/invite/61685867/

It is not ridiculously big, but there are almost 20" difference in the measurements, so it is difficult. I know that other people manage, so I wanted to ask those people for help! I'm not picky, I just don't want to flash half the gym :)

I have a problem keeping my darn pants up ... thank goodness I workout at home in my basement ... I've jumping jacked them right off. I have similar issue waist very smaller from my bottom and thighs. I've tried everything. Going to try a draw-string type pant in hopes I can tie it tight enough to not have this problem.

For the see-through issue I would try maybe a black bathing suit bottom over the leggings this way it will blend in enough and not show anything

Of course the 50% you would be flashing probably would not mind it. :p Maybe that is the case only in the gym I go to.....but I doubt it.

Good luck with this. Would love to find out more about Fabletics too - heard mixed reviews on getting things from the site. I love their leggings!

Thank you, I will try them out, and also @ttv2004 's bathing suit trick - I've only tried it underneath so far...

    I have a 28" waist and a 41" bootay.... only a little sheerness issues.

Do the squat test in the bathroom for one.

Also- I buy LOTS of clothes- specifically workout clothes- at TJMAXX with little issues 90 degrees and MPG are great brands and you can get them fro under 30$ or less there.
