Hi, my names Lesieli. A lot of people call Sieli, Leslie or Leli. Take your pick. The past 10 years my weight has gone up and down. I was always the big girl out of 6 sisters that I have. My significant other right now is a marathon runner, very active and has been for a few years now. He try's to help me and support me in health and physical goals that I have. I feel like I'm a big burden though at times. He and a friend suggested this app but I just had to laugh at first because I'm trying to see how this would help me. I'd like to meet other people on here and share thoughts and opinions with about the journey using this app

Start tracking your food. It is eye opening how much you are eating. Track EVERYTHING.

MFP is great if you use it right - log everything you put in your mouth, and your exercise and it is a very useful tool! Also, the majority of people I have encountered here are encouraging and motivating.
As for feeling like a burden, was your weight up or down when you met your boyfriend?0 -
Don't laugh. If you track your food properly, use a food scale, and use this site the way it is designed-you will lose weight.0

Do you feel like you are 'ready' to do this? Are you doing it because your S/O is a marathon runner? Some people just know when they are ready to take on the endeavor, others start and before they realize it, they are making changes.....which one are you? Just a question to ask yourself. If you do it for someone else, you have the potential to become resentful. If you do it for you, you have the control. Personally, I like MFP for a couple of reasons, but there are some things I'm ambivalent about. It's a tool, like anything else in your journey! Best wishes to you!0

No you're right. Partially the reason why is because of my bf but he tells me all the time he loves me the way that I am already. Most of the reason why is that I want to look and feel better about myself as well. Thank you for the reply. I will try to stick for MFP for as long as I can and see how things go.0

Same here my husband is fit. We started "eating better" together. He lost 22 lbs and I found them lol. We are working on eating smaller meals more often for me. It's the first week and I keep going over my daily calorie allowance but I said I would give it a solid two weeks and see. The funny thing is I am constantly hungry now but get full quickly. Good luck0

In order for this to work, YOU have to want to do it FOR YOU. You have to want it so bad, that you will be committed.
My husband has never been more than maybe 15 lbs overweight, if that. And he makes me mad when he "cuts back" on chips and dip and loses the weight. !!! When we got married I was thin and when we were engaged he said "Promise me you'll never get fat!" because he had a friend who was nearly 300 lbs and she was quite...huge. Obviously. I joked back "That's silly!"
Yeah, flash forward 20 years and my highest recorded weight was 245. I could have been higher and lost a little...I don't know.
Anyway, for a while I tried to lose the weight to make him happy. He has never ever ever pressured me to be thin again, but I never forgot that conversation we had when we were engaged.
Anyway, I failed several times for various reasons. This time, I grew sick of MYSELF based on MYSELF, not based on what I perceived his feelings are. After 20 years of marriage, 15 or so of which I have been overweight, then obese, then morbidly obese, he has never stopped loving me and was never mean to me. I realized I have to do this for ME because he's still loving me anyway.0
