Great motivation for my first 5k May 2nd (first that I hope to actually run and not walk anyway). I'm a newbie and just finished the C25k program the first week in March. Gonna try to log 35 running miles in April. The term 'running' is questionable for me ... more like 'jogging' ... but I'll keep trying to get faster.

    4/3: 3.88 mi
    4/4: 3.57 mi
    4/5: 3.72 mi
    4/7: 3.81 mi
4/8: 1.25 mi (quick stop by the park after Zumba)
    4/9: 4.37 mi
    4/11: 6.72 mi

    Current Total: 27.32 miles

I am looking for new zero drop shoes. Has anyone had experience with Skoras? How they fit, how they feel, how they wear? They have a new model called the Tempo that looks interesting.
I am also looking at the New Balance Minimus Zero v2
Weighing those against the Altra One2

Wow, it is hot out there today. Shockingly slow today, but I got out there (and enjoyed it).

Lol! Not immediately, 11 days. And I I'll cop to be easily influenced. ;)

Still love the flippin bird pic.

Four miles out and I realized with sudden pain that I caused more damage than I thought yesterday. High outside ankle sprain ... it's too high up for that, unless pain is referred ... pain is about an inch or so above the ankle bone protrusion on the lateral aspect.

Anyway, during the long, rather uncomfortable walk back, I kept changing the song on my ipod thinking it would adjust my level of happiness. It did not. <swears loudly>

Edited to ask: I'm not one to go to the doc, especially if there's nothing they can really do. RICE. I get it. But I also haven't done this to myself before. Q: is there a reason to see a doc, aside from just playing it safe and making sure it's not too serious? TIA <swears loudly again>

Need to be more consistent, but at least the long runs are saving me (doing other cardio instead of the running too often).

    4/2: 6.5 miles
    4/5: 10 miles
    4/9: 3 miles
    4/11: 11 miles

A family medical emergency has kept me off the board and the road. Between going out of town to be there and work when I caught up, running has taken a back seat.

My main objective is being ready for my first HM in a couple of weeks, so hopefully I'll be able to get a few runs in and one more long run next weekend.

    4/2 - 4.0 miles
    4/7 - 4.4 miles
4/9 - 2.5 miles (really bad run on a warm day)
    4/12 - 12.1

    23 of 80.....

Well, it was not a very good idea to run first thing after attending an all-night Easter vigil. I slept only few hours and had a headache. To make it worse it's warm and sunny here today. I missed cold rain we had two days ago :) I was slow and had to walk from time to time... :(

3.65 miles today. That used to be about my max...now I felt almost guilty for not going farther. What alien has invaded my body???

A question to you experienced runners...how long do your shoes last? I just got new ones and want to know what to expect.

@mobuckl Sounds like a great road race.

@JoRocka: is that a new profile pic? Awesome!

@4leighbee : Oh no, sorry to hear that you hurt yourself! Walking back four miles with a hurting ankle sounds excruciating. I always take "emergency bus money" with me. Because I'm really scared of something like that happening and having to walk a long ways back (and I hope that I'm actually anywhere remotely near a bus stop should I ever need it)... Hope you get better soon!
I'm also not a see-the-doctor person, so if it where me, I'd go with RICE for a few days first before makeing an appointment, if it doesn't hurt during rest (the two times I actually went to a doctor with a sprain / stained muscle, all the advice I got from the doctor was "rest" anyway). But that might not be the smartest thing to do, so you should probably not listen to me. Especially if it seems to get worse rather than better, that would be a reason to go see an expert.

I ran 15.4 km today! It's actually only the second time I ran more than 15km, so I'm really happy. Unlike the first time where I planned it, today it was more of an accident - I wanted to try out a new route and got lost. At one point I actually realised I had been going in circles... But the weather was nice, running felt good, so no harm done by my refusal to buy one of these smart phone thingies with GPS map apps and the like. And I got back to a street I recognised eventually

    12.04.2015 - 15.4 km
    (41.4 of 100 km done)

4.78 humid miles. Was still a good run. Perhaps I'm on to something watching the magnesium and potassium. Thanks everyone! Running is rather enjoyable without cramps.

@4leighbee - oh no, I hope you are okay! I would be swearing too. I'm not one to go to a doctor either unless it is excruciating.

@gabbo34 - hope things settle down and you can get your runs back. Family comes first and as much I'm sure you want to just take off and run you can't do it sometimes.

    April 1 - rest
    April 2- 6.01 miles
    April 3- 5.15 miles
    April 4 - 34 mile bike ride
April 5 - 20 mile bike ride - hilly ride.
    April 6 - 6.01 miles
    April 7 - Weight Training
    April 8 - 4.89
    April 9 - 6.02
    April 10 - 5.03
    April 11 - 34 mile bike ride
    April 12 - 40 mile bike ride

Back to running tomorrow! My spring break is over so not sure I can run the 6 I want to do in the morning ... I just can't set the alarm back to prior to 4. :/ So I guess I'll do 5 miles and that seemed impossible 4 months ago, so I'll be happy with that!

A good morning run with the family. Adelena started getting tired fighting the wind on her bike, but she stuck it out for 6.6kms. Pretty proud of the little fart. Even with the wind, I still had a 7.49 pace.
