hello,

I'm struggling.. I need help. I'm adding everything on my fitness pal and I'm struggling with my exercise motivation. All I see is fat and wobble and really want to focus on losing weight and just being more healthy.
Don't think I can do this on my own.

I've always struggled with exercise motivation. I find that if I break my exercise up into 10 minute segments it helps, and is just as effective. A lot of times, once I start, I'll go beyond 10 minutes. Stay focused on your diet, and just try to add as much exercise as you feel you can.

I could have written this post myself. Exercise was such a chore to me. So I started slow. I began logging everything I ate on MFP every single day. I got myself used to this habit. Simply logging in my food made me want to eat better because I was literally seeing what I was putting inmy body. I lost weight by staying within my calorie goal, the weight came off slow but I still lost it.

When I reached 15lbs loss (it took about 4.5 months), I wanted to see faster results. I was loving the weight I lost, but I wanted to do more. So then I started walking around the neighborhood with my daughter, these were leisure walks but I was moving. Still logging my food in, a month later I lost another 4 lbs by simply adding in walks. I wanted to do more, so now I have started Body Pump at my gym and started couch to 10k running program. I am hoping by my gradual increase in exercise, I can lose more even faster.

I built myself up and this system is working for me. I'm the type of person that needs instant gratification, so I don't really get inspired or motivated unless I see results. Since I have seen results with my small changes, now my mind wants to make BIG changes to see more.

Add me as a friend, message me when you are feeling low & unmotivated....the trick is that you have to want it bad enough. I reached my breaking point when depression started creeping in, I then decided it was time to start my changes.

    (((hugs)))

    You can do this!

I was there, and I have travelled back to "that place" many times on my journey over the past 2.5 years. I will tell you for me that setting a schedule (like scheduling a meeting with myself) and writing down that schedule helped me stick to it. I started with going to crossfit FEB 2013. I said I would go 4 times a week. Picked my days, class times and just said... YOU HAVE TO GO TO THOSE. I months I never deviated, worried if I did that it would be a slippery slope.

Later on, I would write myself up a CHALLENGE that had rules and guidelines. I would do them for 30 days or 100 days... (doing a 100 day challenge right now) with specific goals in might. It help me focus on working hard until I got to that specific "finish line".

I am the epitome of sloth (the deadly sin, not so much the mammal, but I digress)
So what I have to do is trick myself into working out, like a child.
Yesterday I was the laziest ever and after hours, hours of contemplating working out I made a deal with myself to do JM "Beginner Shred" it is only 20 minutes and really easy.
So I did it. And then I found the energy to do another short DVD.

I also found "fun" things to do for workouts like hula hoop, rebounder/trampoline, balance board.

I am not looking into becoming an athlete or being a fitness model, so I don't put the stress on myself on having to do a structured exercise routine at certain times. At this point, all I aim for is to do "something" active -- be it a DVD, C25K, or whatever.

I also find it motivating to have a group of MFP friends that have similar interests, goals and that are active. Because just seeing their exercise activity feed gives me a push to do something.

And of course, I think the most important thing is to find something that you enjoy.

For example, I wish I was one of those people that like going to the gym. But I hate it, I really, really do.
    So I don't.

Try to look into options that are a bit out of the ordinary and see if you like them: hiking, swimming, riding a bike, kettlebells, Crossfit, tennis, obstacle courses.... Walk Away the Pounds dvds, hot yoga, TRX, Pilates, martial arts, surfing --- there's a whole world of activities to be explored.

Until you find what you like, you can look into options like free DVDs from the library (and then buy the ones you enjoy), adult-fitness programs sponsored by your county/city, walking, join a MeetUp group to find other people with similar interests.

You can do this!! And you are not alone, bc you have the MFP community to support you. Feel free to add me, if you'd like.
