I think you are off to a good start. Check the calculators here on MFP to see a recommended daily caloric intake and try to stick to that or just below. Exercise will come as you lose some of the weight. Best of luck! After 3 months I am still struggling as I feel so heavy I can't exercise but I am thinking I should try to add something -- I have only lost 13 pounds so far and I know I am probably eating too many calories, but it's still a great start to just count the calories and track your food in the beginning. Don't give up! Read some of the success stories here and you will learn that you CAN do this!0

All that matters is u stay under the calories mfp gave u. Doesnt much matter what u eat though obviously healthy choices is preferable. U dont have to workout but u should. Even a 20 minute walk per day. Good luck0

Watch your calories. Make good good choices. And move! That's my mantra every day. Even if I don't feel like exercising (which is most of the time!!) I try to just remember to MOVE! Taking stairs instead of elevator, parking further away at work or the grocery store. Standing and walking in place while watching Netflix. Just MOVE!!! Eventually the weight will come off and you'll find you have more energy and less jiggle (that's what I call it!) and will be able to do more strenuous exercise! Friend me if you like! We're all in this together and need all the support and the occasional kick in the rear that we can get!!0

Some folk have great success with low carb, some of the biggest losers have succeeded with low carb high fat. You feel full, you can reverse insulin resistance, etc. Keto clarity book by Jimmy Moore is a great intro and the folks on keto groups on Mfp pretty helpful. It's been the least painful weight loss for me ever. I am 25lbs in with around 50 to go. Some folk still believe low carb isn't healthy, which is understandable since government advice hasn't caught up, but Swedish government has changed its advice to low carb and so much science supports the health benefits of low carb, see the art and science of low carbohydrate living by phinney and volek. It's quite heavy on the science but might help convince... good luck however you decide to go...0

I have had a lot of success with low carb. I have lost 105 pounds since July 21. I eat less than 20g of carbs a day. I started at 267 pounds and I'm now 162 pounds. I want to lose at least another 30. Low carb isn't for everyone so you have to find what you can stick to for life. For me low carb is the easiest because after the first 2 weeks of sugar withdrawal all your cravings go away and you are never hungry. I don't even watch my calories. If I'm hungry I eat. Whatever way of eating you choose, give it 2 weeks to get used to it and then decide if that is the way of life for you.0

Congrats on changing your life! I am so excited for you and wish you the best. I tell my team that the key to success is: Nutrition, Exercise, and Support. If you lack one of these, your results and transformation will suffer. If you would like, I can give you a complete breakdown of calories based on different activity levels. The breakdown will also include a macro breakdown of proteins, carbs, fats. Next, it sounds like your activity level is pretty low. I work 12 hour shifts, but make it a point to exercise everyday. Some days I'm so tired and feel like skipping, but I have to remind myself WHY I started in the first place. If you have 25-30 mins a day, we can find a great exercise routine for you. You also need support, everyday. A team that will push you and guide you, struggle with you, and cheer you on.
I will be starting a fitness accountability group in May if you are interested. I can send more information if you would like.0 -

I am intrested but like I mentioned I am 450 pounds I lack will power to excersie I have a treadmill and can never get to it. My Job literley takes it all out of me. I know it sounds like an excuse and to be truthful it is. The first step I have made is to follow this app and what I want to know if this app is correct and if I am meeting my sugar intake protein and so on is it going to work? I quit soda for the 10th time right now I have not drink-ed one in over 3 weeks. One time I did not drink for 6 months. I know it is a lot to ask but I want to loose weight and feel more alive then start working out to burn down to were I need to be. Is this a possibility? And if so how long would it take me?0

I have also been following the water diet a bit, I drink Ice water a lot throughout the day before meals and after.0

Is BBQ food healthy to? Like if I BBQ my steak?0

Steak itself is good. Try and pick leaner cuts. Its what u put on it and the size of it that can do u in. Bbq is fine. U can lose without working out. Its impossible to say how long it depends on ur effort0

I don't exercise much at all, although I know I should. I lost 105 pounds in 8.5 months so it is possible. Eventually you'll have more energy to get moving more. I eat foods high in good fats. I don't watch my calories it my fat intake. I just make sure I stay under 20g of carbs. You can also do a low calorie diet, but I can never stick to that ave you have to find something you are willing to do forever.0

So i have been dieting now about a month. I do not feel like anything is happening. I have Drank no soda what so ever I have been watching what I eat based on this program. I am drinking Ice water like crazy and I still feel at a dead end. Tell me every day I usually eat a whole wheat sandwich with Lettuce and Tomato, Muster and ketchup and most times with cheese. I eat this for my lunch. I have stopped eating after 8 And now I am wondering should I quite all bread all flour all together? Like I have mentioned last time I weighed I was at 450 I want to get back to at least 200s. So my breakfast each day consists of Corn flakes with milk and banana. Big *kitten* bottle of Ice water, lunch sandwich super usually it varies I have been mostly eating rices and tomato and lettuce salads with dressing. I mean besides that am I on a right track or am I still doing something wrong. I have also started doing a 15 minute walk each day on my treadmill only just started, more or less have done 3 workouts so far lol. But it is a start.

You have to give it more time to see results. Cutting out bread won't help unless you have a sensitivity to it. You are doing fine. Great even because you have started to incorporate some more movement into your life!
Sometimes the body gets shocked from the change in habits and dawdles with your results. That doesn't mean you aren't progressing. Your body might just be adjusting to the change. Give it a little more time. As they say, "You didn't put the weight on overnight, so you aren't going to change immediately."
Hope this helps!0 -

You said you don't feel like anything is happening. Have you taken measurements? Weighed yourself, taken pictures? I still have a hard time seeing how much I lost in a mirror. It took me being brave enough to take a full body picture and comparing it to old pictures others have taken of me to really see a change.0 -
Good idea0

keep up what you're doing.. count your calories and keep them at or below what mfp tells you. Keep involved in the forums for support. Start walking or exercising when you feel inspired to do so..and you will as you lose. However, staying at or under your calories is key.0

cutting out soda is HUGE, u will see a difference right there. it sounds like you are the right track... what everyone is telling is so right.. use this app.. when i first started i was so lost. i went from probably eating 4000-5000 cals a day and now i only eat 1300-1600 a day, but i would have no clue how to do it with out this app..... One of the users said just MOVE. she is so right!!! Any lit bit helps... Dont look at it as oh my gosh, i have 250lbs to loose.... I had 100lbs to loose... Now i have 64, which still terrifys me, the number seems SOOOO big and SOOOO far away... So i do it in increments of 10... that way you do not get discouraged. Through out your journey you will be overwhelmed with emotion.. happiness, sadness, deafeat, empowerment.. through it all stay focused and keep your eye on the prize... you are going to be adding years years of happiness to your life.. i am so proud of you to make the decision and just keep at it.. your heart will thank you... Best of luck0

You are doing a whole bunch of things right. Ignore the low carbers. Much more important is to watch portion sizes. For instance, have you weighed/measured your cereal? That can be a big surprise to many people. I am also thrilled to hear that you have started fifteen minutes on the treadmill. All of this is very, very good.
You've lost six pounds so far? It might not seem like much, but it's progress.
I suggest stick to your plan and make this part of your daily routine before you try and change too much from what you are doing.0 -
First thing is to get a food scale if you have not done so already. Track every single thing that you eat and stay in your calorie goal and the weight will come off. It's that simple. I have a desk job and do not exercise much. I have stayed close to my calorie goal and have averaged a 2lb a week loss so far. I eat a ton of eggs and I have 2 tuna sandwiches every day for lunch. They have 35 calorie per slice bread that has been a god send. Feel free to add me. My diary is open. It takes time and a ton a patience but it will happen. If you fall off the wagon for a day make sure you get back on the next and move on. Good luck and get log on here every single day.0

Post this in the motivation and support tab. Also, its *lose, not loose.0

Very important
1. Fill in the MFP settings and set your goals and calorie allowance etc.
2. Start weighing all your solid food ( not measuring but really weighing)
3. Log every single bit you eat.
4. Be determent, consistent, and honest to yourself ( also when you overeat one day)
5. Drink enough water/fluids ( when they have calories measure them and log them)
6. Take enough rest
7. Start some moving when you can and want too ( its not necessary but it helps and you can eat back some of the burned calories. It will make you feel better and fitter at one point)
8. Don't worry about fluctuations...they happen to everybody.
9. Don't flip out when you overeat SOMETIMES! Moderation and portion control are your best friends. But a birthday an occasional PIECE of pizza, a beer, a cookie are not going to hurt you at all as long you go back on track the next day.
10. Be happy with every little ounce you lose... be patient you will lose more when you stick to point 1, 2,3 and 4.
11. Enjoy the ride!!!!!
YOU can do it!0
