100 lbs Lost and beating the odds

I haven't posted in the forums for a while and thought I'd pop back in to encourage some of you. I've logged in 1550 consecutive days, that's over 4 years on MFP. By my one year anniversary on MFP I lost a whopping 100 pounds without surgery, starving myself or gimmics, just old fashioned diet and exercise. I've been maintaining that loss since then. During the past two years I've had some hard knocks. I had back to back hip surgery for FAI (hip impingement and labral tears), followed by a severe foot fracture that took me complete non weight bearing for 10 months and then a cancer scare and surgery for that. While all that was very tough, I'm so proud that I've maintained the weight loss during so much down time with activity and I didn't return to my old habits of eating during stressful events.
I'd really love some new pals here as so many have gone by the wayside during my stay here. I'm coming off maintenance and pushing hard to lose another 20 pounds. It's a LOT harder the closer you get to goal.
Before and after pics are in my profile.

What a run of bad luck but awesome dedication!0

Thanks. I call it life and not bad luck. The old me would eat during times of stress but it's so good to know I'm a truly changed person. Not only did I not stress eat but I adjusted calorie intake to take into account less activity and recovery. My hip issues still aren't the best but I "keep on kickin."0

Congratulations on what you have accomplished.0

FANTASTIC you are an inspiration to me. 1550 days lagging in is great. I am on day 80- this time around. I was up over 100 days but I had some sickness also and did not login in a few days.
Good Luck with getting back you health and your goal weight

Dear KOK: What an inspirational post to read as I start my first week after many months being away from MFP. Life has also happened to me, and I've gained much of the weight back...I also have at least 100 lbs to lose, and as I said, I am so inspired by your story and your spirit. Keep it up!0

Wow, what great accomplishment! Losing weight is difficult but I am sure the hardest thing is to keep the weight off. I have been on here about 4 years too and my weight has gone up and down from 260 to about 215. I am about 230 right now, but afraid to step on the scale because I have been a little lazy lately and have not been eating right. I am still here and still trying. I hope to be under 200 lbs this year and am in the process of getting it together now lol. I will also send you a friend request:)0

I would love to be friends with you. I am very very close to my goal (About 2-3 pounds) and I am a little nervous about maintaining as I have never been successful at it. I do believe I have what it takes this time. Having someone like you to give some advice or encouragement would be great! You are an inspiration! 1500 days logging is incredible! And with so many reasons that you could have made excuses to not stay on track, but chose to not give in to excuses, but instead make adjustments is so SMART!!0

Wow, that certainly is a lot of bad luck, but you made it through! That is truly a great accomplishment and one I hope I can do also. I have a lot of weight to lose and have the same issue of eating when times are tough.0

Congratulations! On the amazing weight loss AND on maintaining even in the face of adversity. Would love to be friends.0

Congratulations! I have also lost (and kept off) 100 lbs, so I know how hard it is. I have been stuck around the 100 lb mark for awhile, and need to lose 22 lbs more. Feel free to add me!0

Congratulations not only on the loss and maintaining but also on all the recoveries you had to go through. I am almost halfway to goal and still have a long journey ahead. Was hoping to get there by my 60th birthday but it doesn't look possible now. Maybe by the end of the 60th birthday. Keep going strong and if your interested in being friends let me know. I can use all the support I can get and I can also offer some support.0
