It's me again everyone. I am in a much happier place now lol.
It's totally the pred- It can make me angry at my socks on bad days.
I have rheumatoid arthritis, I NEED it, or I risk very, very severe joint deformity.
Thankfully, I'm only on it for a week or so at a time, whenever there is a flare.
I'm back to my happy weighing, scratch cooking self.

OK, this is going to sound really stupid, and I give everyone permission to mock the hell out of me, but one of the things I do to keep motivated to cook fresh is to pretend I'm cooking on camera. Like, maybe doing a cooking show for my MFP friends. That way, it doesn't really seem like I HAVE to weigh everything, but I'm doing it for the benefit of my viewers..... *giggles*. It also makes cooking FUN!

My kid thinks I'm nuts, and...well... she's not wrong..... but better than having a boring mum.... right????

And now, after admitting that, I see that OP is feeling better about things.

Still, I'm sure the rest of you could use some entertainment

It's just a lot of excuses . If you want to do it stop moaning about weighing food it's so pathetic. Sorry to be brutal just saying what everyone else is thinking .

Glad you're back on an even keel---setbacks happen to everyone. The best part about this form is the way people take the time to give advice, good or bad. Take the good and go.......... Wishing you success. B)

I have tried just portion control, I have tried eliminating foods, etc, etc. The ONLY thing that has ever moved my scale has been weighing. I'm just feeling defeated by my food right now. It would be such a nice treat if I could just grab a pre-made anything, and know what the calories are in it.
    Venting really did help.

Portion control is key. If you are weighing a pound of food that will be of no help to you.

And you can grab a pre-made anything... within reason. There are calorie counts on everything. You can eat just Lean Cuisine or Weight Watchers entrees. I look at the calorie count on food that I buy at 7-eleven and choose whichever fits my plan for the day (or only use half the salad dressing to lower it if necessary). You can get fruit in packages - it's more expensive, but it's available. I do that all the time - especially when I'm out and can't weigh stuff. Even NY pizza is available in a slice - you don't have to get two. I get brocolli pizza so I include some veggies if I'm in a hurry. (it's about 350 calories).

When we give up our emotional crutches, whatever they may be, our raw emotions come forth. Sounds like yours is anger. You need to work on that before you can lose weight successfully. Just my opinion.

It's hard not to get emotionally involved in the process, but it doesn't help to get emotionally involved in the process. Just soldier on. Concentrate on your victories. If you're not gaining, that's a victory!
  • I am sorry you feel this way. I honestly think it's because you feel that you are "forced" to do this as if it's that annoying job you have to go to just to pay the bills. . This should be an adventure, it really is a mind game. You have to focus on your goals and see the happy end result in order to get that motivation back again. If you continuously force yourself into doing something you don't want to do this is an automatic FAIL. Change your thoughts, easier said than done.. but you have to get out of that black hole in order to be successful!

Also- I totally forgot to put this- I'm on prednisone. I KNOW my anger is coming from there, this is so 100% not like me.
Honestly, would taking a few days off be a good thing?
Prednisone, an anti-inflammatory medication, is used to treat conditions such as lupus, arthritis and multiple sclerosis. Weight gain, caused by fluid retention and an increased appetite, is one of the primary side effects of prednisone. If you're trying to lose weight while taking this drug, you may need to change certain aspects of your diet. Ask your doctor or a dietitian for help developing a meal plan that can help you avoid weight gain.
    (from livestrong)

You should also monitor your bone density (from my mom)
