How much do you spend on athletic shoes? I used to draw the line at $65. I've been looking the past few days and now I can't find any under $80 that I even remotely like and the ones I really like are $120. How much is too much for you?

    These questions are always going to be highly dependent on where people live, what the prices are in their area, and what local currency they use.

    Having said that, I have narrow feet AND I live in Canada, so I typically have to spend more because there are so few options available for me here.

    I prefer to work out in asics so I always buy those on clearance as they tend to be pricey here. The pair I have now were originally $95 and I bought them for about $65.

    Im in canada as well and am lucky to spend 120. I should have spent more though since they arent the best for running

    My running shoes are usually around $100 a pop. I have paid more, but not gotten more quality. Midwest girl. Prices are reasonable on most things.

    I've always balked at paying more than absolutely necessary for shoes. I finally broke down and bought a 130$ pair of runners that a Sports Check associate help me pick out. Best. Purchase. Ever. It's so much easier to run in these bad boys, and there's so much more support. And they're lasting a lot longer than any other shoes I've bought! So worth it!

    It all depends on what you do, what you're aiming for, and what feels good to you. Athletic shoes come in all different types, and prices.

    For shoes I'm going to wear to Target and walk the dogs around the block? $60 tops.

    For running shoes? Mine are usually about $120 from the running store. That has saved me hundreds in copays at the doctor and physical therapist, so well worth it.

    U.S. here, but near a larger city. I go there to find shoes since my town has a limited supply. I also have metatarsal inserts that I use in my shoes. The only running ones that are actually comfortable for me are New Balance 840v2. I can't stand the look of them, but they fit my inserts well and I can actually walk a few miles (or jog) in them. For regular gym things I don't need to worry as much. That said, my New Balance runners were $130 (w/out the inserts) and my 'typical' gym shoe is about $80 or so. Hate spending a lot on shoes, but if I want to remain highly active, I get what is comfortable and does the job.

    I've purchased $70 Rykas and $20 Danskins and been happier with the $20 shoes. I go with whatever is the most comfortable without being an utter fashion disaster. I lean more toward the cheap end, as I need to replace my shoes every 300 miles or so... Recently, I've been over 100 miles/month, so it's a recurring cost...

    I have a Nike outlet just down the street from my house. I am very lucky and get super pricey shoes at huge discounts. I am willing to pay more for good gym shoes than I am for work shoes. My money always gets invested in my health first.

    My running shoes are $100-$150. I started running in cheaper shoes and it resulted in several doctor visits. I would rather pay more money for my shoes and inserts now than deal with injury and doctor visits later.

    I never buy a pair of shoes unless it's on sale. My limit is $100 and I live in Canada.

    I think mine were £80 ($140). I went to a local running shop who had a look at my feet and made me run around.
    They're really comfy.

    I have wide feet, plantar fasciitis, and just generally f'd up feet from 2.5 decades of dance. I've tried brand after brand after brand, in upwards of $180...and I always go back to Saucony. Amazing, affordable, reputable athletic footwear. :smile: Got my last pair for $49.99

    Well I have 2 pair each of both hiking boots and shoes (warm and cold weather), hiking sandals, running shoes and cross trainers. I think they vary in price from $25 (clearance sale) to $159. I'm cheap so I shop sales, but I don't mind paying for quality.

    My gripe isn't so much about the price (because I'm a firm believer in having the right tool for the job); my gripe is when I fall in love with a shoe and then the fit totally changes when the new version is released.

    I get a certain shoe (Asics GT-1000) and pay whatever they are when I need them. It's usually around $100 but I look to see if there are any sales or coupons.

    I have really small feet, so I wear children's shoes. It means less variety, but I can also sometimes get a good pair for $50. If you're going to actually use them for running, then don't look at price as your determining factor. Find a pair/model you like and then look out for sales, coupons, or even search online to see if you can find them cheaper.

    My Brooks running shoes generally run around $120 but I know the size I need and the particular shoe I like and I found a previous model year shoe on sale for $90.

    My cycling shoes were $130 and my lifting shoes were $140.

    In my experience nothing beats a good quality shoe that fits perfectly...I cheap out elsewhere, but not on my shoes.

    I love my Saucony Kinvara's and they usually run me around $100. Most comfortable workout / running shoe I found after Puma discontinued the one I used a few years ago.

    I have a wide assortment of Saucony's that I paid between $50 and $100 for per pair (I search amazon, etc. for deals!)

    Lifting shoes I get for $50 (Chuck Taylors), running shoes were $140 I think, and my various cycling/mountain biking shoes range anywhere from $90-$250. Now fashion shoes...that's where it gets pricey...lol.

    I buy mine at kohls cause they always have something on sale and you can pair it with a coupon. I got my nike fitsoles there for $34.
