If I have my kg to lb conversion right, 20 kg in 2 months is way too aggressive.

But you can make some great progress in 2 months! Have you used the tools on this website to get your calorie goal?

There is no magic bullet. The most you should ever try to lose is 1 kg a week. You can do that by putting your info into myfitnesspal and following the calorie and macro recommendations. Even then, 1 kg a week may be too ambitious.

I would suggest aiming for 6-8 kgs over that amount of time, about 1 kg//week should be the max you try to lose. Set your goal to lose just that and add in strength training to maintain lean muscle so most of your loss is from fat.

Sorry, varshanathan, but unless you amputate a body part, 20 kg is not going to happen. And, as the above poster notes, you can surely make some great progress in 2 months :)

should have started sooner. you wont lose 10kg a month without removing a limb. BUT u can get started and lose some and feel great about yourself. set a realistic goal and get started right now. set a 2lb a week goal( this is still agressive) and stick within your calories. any kind of exercise will help just get moving

That is 44 pounds. Even 1 kg a week is pretty ambitious. So a goal of 10-12 kg is a good place to start.

Just do the best that you can and focus on feeling good rather than on the exact number on the scale.

    Best wishes!

Well, if you check your calory allowance, go 500 below that and do two hours of swimming every day you might come close. But assuming you arent in prime shape, which will probably be true since you want to loose so much, you will probably be too fatigued to continue with that after a couple of days.
Strength training wont cut it, thats more of a long term investment, but you dont burn nearly as much short term as with cardio.

Sure, you could always amputate a leg

Do you want to lose safely and keep it off? Or just lose it fast and have it all come back after the wedding?

If you want it gone fast, cut your calories to 500 a day and exercise as much as possible, survival mode. You'll feel like crap. You'll be losing fat and muscle. It'll all come back as soon as you start eating again.

If you want to lose safely, cut your calories to whatever MFP suggests, exercise at least 30 minutes a day, drink lots of water, and hope for the best.

    20 KG is 44 pounds ...

Between 40 - 75 lbs set to lose 1.5 lb range
Between 25-40 lbs set to lose 1 lb range
Between 15-25 lbs set to lose 1 -.50 lb range
Less than 15 lbs set to lose 0.5 lbs range

Just do the best you can. Exercise (strength/resistance) can help you lose some inches...that's as good a pounds (eer...kgs.)

Not going to happen. Leastways, not in any way that's good for you.

(My dad lost 20kg in two months once - it's the called the gastroenteritis followed by pneumonia diet, and I don't recommend it.)

It's not like you didn't know about your wedding. Should have started sooner.

If you have 100+ lbs to lose sure, more than 1kg/week is fine, most say 1 lb/week, 2lbs/week if you have a lot to lose.

That's twice the healthy amount that any person regardless of size should lose.

    1 kg = 2.2lb
    2 kg = 4.4lb

The most any person should lose per week is 2 lb so yes, do not try and lose more than 1 kg per week.

    Bad advice is bad

You are advising someone with 44lbs to lose to lose 4.4lbs a week which is a defecit of 15400 calories per week, assuming she has an average female TDEE of 2000 per week you are asking her to net -1400 calories per week for 8 weeks

And you see nothing wrong in that?

    *facepalm*

OP ignore...you would end up with hair, nail, skin, energy, mood issues following that kind of advice

So basically she'll be bald, sallow-skinned, toothless, frail, no nails, and may have some sort of organ failure. Quite the happy wedding Is the weight loss worth that?

Please ignore the person saying go for it. Your spouse is marrying you for who you are (I hope), not for who you want to be physically.

No. People say it's bad to lose more than 2 pounds a week. 2 kg = 4.4 pounds, which is more than twice that.

OP, unfortunately this isn't going to happen. Crash dieting is a terrible way to go into your wedding, and I'm sure your fiance would prefer you to be healthy rather than than skinny.

I'm not saying my advice is good but I'm going to encourage and support this lady in losing what ever weight she wants to . If she wants to try and lose that much weight in two months let her because if she does it she will feel awesome . She may even stick at it and not gain any thing back. Words of encouragement nor advice given just encourage and support.

MFP does not encourage unhealthy weight loss, which is what she is wanting. Losing that fast means not only fat loss, but muscle loss, hair loss, weakened organs, exhaustion, and other health problems...and she will not be feeling awesome in that case.

44 pounds in 60 days is 0.75 pounds a day. This requires a daily caloric deficit of about 2500 calories. To achieve this, you would basically have to stop eating entirely for two months - yes, a two month long fast.

    It's not going to happen.

Even the fastest legitimate protocols available (PSMF, RFL, etc) can only get you about halfway there - and that's if you do them under supervision and follow the plans down the finest detail.

You have had good advice, but this would horrify people as being unhealthy and unrealistic. If youd allowed yourself more time you could have done soemthing about it but now you ahve to deal with reality and lose a reasonable amount in 2 months between 8-16lbs depending on how much you have to lose.

I would feel simply awesome if I run across the tracks in front of a fast moving passenger train. Sadly, a sports injury makes it hard for me to run fast enough; but, there is this one crossing where I can position myself on hill to get some extra speed! Do you think I should wear my blue runners, or my black runners with the thicker shoe-laces when I try this?
