EAT BEFORE OR AFTER WORKOUT?

Options
I'm starving but I need to workout. I don't want to be lazy during my workout but I want to have enough energy so do I eat before or after?

Eat some fast acting carbs. Bananas are good.

Both. Eat lightly before a workout,. And then a high protein snack within an hour afterwards to help with muscle recovery.

For me-after. Otherwise I'll end up throwing up during my work out.

I can't maximize my workouts on an empty stomach. I just end up spinning my wheels and crashing hard. But some people swear by working out on empty or they get sick if they eat before hand.

Conversely, I am almost never hungry after a workout. Food has no appeal. But some people are hangry after their workouts and want all the foods.

Do whatever works best for you.

I only eat before if I'm hungry and then I have something small.

Meal timing makes no difference. Eat whenever you're hungry.

Whatever works for you. I always eat 1 to 2 hours before working out... just not oatmeal. Oatmeal before anything with impact = very, very bad idea for me.

Whatever works best for you. Anyone that says it matters for the average person is not up on current science. Google Brad Schoenfeld and Alan Aragon. The bottom line is unless you are at the extreme end of the spectrum of athlete, meal timing is irrelevant. So, just eat when you are hungry. I for one hardly ever eat before a workout. In fact, for me, I am usually 8 hours into a 16 hour fast and I haven't noticed any negative effects. Granted, not everyone can do that.
