    you can't spot reduce
eat at a defecit to lose body fat
    lift heavy

read the sticky at the top 'so you want a nice stomach'

    Fork putdowns and table pushaways.

    Also heavy lifting helps.

rabbitjb is right, no such thing as spot reduction. You just have to lose weight overall, and try to maintain the muscle you've got (can't build muscle on a caloric deficit) so you'll look good when you've started reducing body fat.

I second this and the bolded is one of the things that got me started with Stronglifts 5x5 and a loss of about 7 inches from my waist. You'll see lots of "there's no magic formula" comments here, but those two things seem like magic at first! Work your muscles well and reduce your body fat through diet. I've found that I notice abdominal work the most doing bench press as I REALLY concentrate on engaging them to get that bar up, even though they are used throughout all my exercises. My core strength is miles from where I started in January and the inches around my stomach practically melted off in the last couple of months. It's been incredibly motivating.
