Food Scale Question (Tips)

So don't burn me if this has been discussed until we're blue in the face, but the search function didn't prove very handy when I searched. I've had success for over a year with weighing food and I'm not new to it, however, I was wondering ways to be more efficient.

For instance, when weighing a "sticky" food like peanut butter, do you zero the scale out with an empty spoon and then scoop your peanut butter and place it back on the scale? I don't mind doing that, but is there an easier way (that you've found)?

Are there any other tips you'd like to offer? You'd think after a year I'd be pretty efficient with it (or at least in a routine) but I'm all for learning.

    I weigh the entire jar in grams and keep the jar on the scale as I scoop out what I need in small amounts until I hit the weight/serving size I need.

    What about the weight of the jar?

    I put a bowl on the scale, zero it, and then put peanut butter In the bowl

    The weight of the jar is irrelevant. You would subtract the number on the scale after removing your peanut butter from the beginning total weight (jar and contents). The difference between the two is how much peanut butter is removed.

    Say your jar of peanut butter weighs 500 grams. You want 20 grams of peanut butter, so you scoop it out until the scale reads 480. The only thing removed is the food, so the jar weight does not factor in.

    I just put bread or bowl on scale. Depending on how I am eating it and push zero button.
