How does she encourage disorder eating? I've watched a few of her videos now and I haven't seen her encourage it. She has said she used to have an eating disorder but has changed her life style of eating vegan.

    She's not just vegan.
She replaced an eating disorder with a super strict diet with made up rules of what to eat and when.

Isn't that another eating disorder called orthorexia?

Some would argue that it is, yes.

She has said that your period is "toxins" leaving your body and that having it stop is a good thing. The reality is, when your period ceases it's a sign of malnourishment and it is commonly associated with eating disorders.

I don't think she has changed her lifestyle. She's promoting significant restrictions and fear of food. She still has an eating disorder, it is just covered in banana peels.

Or overtraining I think too right?

You're totally right. Over-training can also cause amenorrhea. I corrected my post. Thanks!

She's not saying, "Hey, you guys should totes try disordered eating. It does wonders for weight loss!"

She's giving advice/tips that lead to or are disordered eating habits.

It's not like she'd come out and say, "Okay guys, I know this diet enhances the risk of developing an eating disorder, but other than that, you're all good to start this immediately."

Glad you've decided against it though.

I know right. It does not happen a lot on MFP forums.

I don't know everything about Freelee but what I do know, and like, is that she encourages eating enough calories. She recommends 2000-2500 and more if you're active. I also saw one of her food hauls and there was an abundance of fruits and vegetables. Enough to fill the back of the station wagon.

Sometimes I browse this forum and see the number "1200" in titles and I wonder how someone can thrive on that amount. Is the goal to lose weight and be bedridden?

    In sum:
    1. Freelee encourages eating more calories and living an active lifestyle
    2. She eats a lot of produce

I'm all for that. You have to find nuggets in what these nutrition gurus (with IG degrees) are saying because if you delve deep enough you are bound to find out something kooky and proclaim them as the devil.

Not so much. She's orthorexic. Her level of activity far outweighs what she is eating. So, not, she does not really encourage eating enough calories when you really get down to it.

Again, anyone who would say a period is a bad thing has no business giving people dieting advice. No period = not enough calories to sustain your reproductive system.

Excessive restriction, even in the context of enough calories, is still disordered eating. Telling young women that it is desirable to cease menstruating is very questionable advice, especially coming from someone with a documented history of eating disorders.

There is more to health than just eating a bunch of produce.

She doesn't just claim eating enough calories, it's unlimited calories.

The best part of her claim is that if you fail to lose weight, or *shockingly* gain weight, it's because you haven't given the "lifestyle" long enough. It would seem that it can take several years for malnutrition weightloss to set in.

I don't know of many long-term studies, but I know of many anecdotal reports where raw food eaters feel fine for years and then suddenly develop health problems. Your body can do a really good job of compensating for deficiencies for years until it suddenly can't do it any more. Problems that were years in the making can develop suddenly.

A raw vegan diet can be healthy, if it's planned ( just like any other). What they sell though... An avoidance of mineral rich foods, no leafy greens, ect ( plus the rules about timing and such), is not it.

Yes, I way over-generalized there. I should have been clear that I was talking about kookoo for Cocoa Puffs raw veganism, like Freelee's kind.
