Yes, I used to be heavy and yes through a couple of years of dedication, education, discipline and hard work I was able to lose the weight and maintain. Has it been easy? hell no! Has it been worth it? hell yes! At this point in my life I am at athlete level in all aspects of my physical ability and body percentages. What really irks me is folks looking for a quick fix... or folks simply starving themselves to lose weight. People who are not really committed to this lifestyle have no idea about the amount of focus and dedication it takes to truly find that balance, get healthy and maintain. I understand why some folks might have surgery for medical reasons but I've seen a number of commercials about folks having surgery to lose weight and yet they don't change anything about the way they live or move or eat! To me that's a total cop out! I work so hard at maintaining my fitness and nutrition and then I have to sit there and hear about how hard it was for someone after a gastric bypass! really? ugh....

Sorry if this post bothers anyone, it's not to anyone personally and I may or may not understand the struggles but I do recognize a cop out when I see one!

To those of us who work our *kitten* (literally) off... congratulations, I am proud of you

I think you would do well to focus on yourself and ignore the way others go about it. I agree with you, but I can't get worked up about it. I'm doing this the way I feel is right for me, eating right and exercising, but it's not really any of my business how anyone else goes about it.

At the end of the day, you are happy with the work you have done and are benefitting massively from it. Those who do not change their lifestyle will most likely end up back where they started. I wouldn't keep worrying about it.

Thanks! You are right and I do that 99% of the time. This is about me and my fitness and no one else. I just had a moment over the weekend while talking to someone that just put me over the deep end and I've been thinking about it ever since. She's a lovely woman and I like her a lot but the whole time over dinner she was going on and on about how she was obese and had surgery... she lost a ton of weight but all she did was complain about hardships, complications, lose skin, how she keeps over eating and its making her sick, blah, blah, blah... omg I wanted to ask her if she'd ever actually eaten a vegetable or gone for a walk!?!? LOL!

I just had to get it off my chest. I know it doesn't really matter to my own personal journey and I know she doesn't represent the majority. Just one of those things that got to me

Everyone entitled to a rant.....and yes. I get it. I find myself apologising cos I cannot exercise at the mo due to ligament damage. But even with a valid excuse, I feel bad...
