My name's Becky and I'm still trying to find the right diet and exercise that will finally give me the chance to lose weight. I'm a belly dancer of 6 years and weigh 214 lbs. My lowest was 179 lbs from 230 lbs but that was during a bad anorexia caused by a break up several years ago. I wish to not fall back to that and still am fighting, but it's hard.
5 months ago, I went to the doctor to see if there was anything preventing me from losing weight successfully (ex: thyroid) and all tests said I was healthy as can be, which is good, but I still am trying to figure out the right diet and exercise for my type of body. From 2009 to 2011, I worked out 6 days a week and about an hour and a half cardio with switching days with weightlifting. I didn't gain or lose weight, so I gave up because during that same time my sister was doing the same exact thing and lost 60 lbs. (now I wish I still lived at that apartment complex because the gym was free). I have a problem of not seeing the progress of the previous attempts of losing weight and I give up too easily. Many friends I have worked out with or dieted with have lost weight significantly and it shows while it doesn't show at all on me and it frustrates me and then again...I always give up.
I wish to change it all this time around. I'm turning 26 in 3 weeks and never in my life have I've been skinny, but I wish to be at least a size 12 from a size 18, when I'm done.
Hope to get to know some of you
Edit: I never drink soda. I only drink it when I'm chasing shots. The only problem with me is my love for beer. Sooo bad for you but I love it.

You've said a lot about exercise but nothing about calories. Are you logging? If so, please open your diary.0

Theres really only one diet that matters here and thats being at a consistent calorific deficit as part of a lifestyle change. Exercise is beneficial, but its the deficit that will decide whether you lose weight or not.
You have identified two initial weaknesses which you might wish to work on.
1. Making sure you are at a deficit. You can solve this by weighing your food and logging it. You will lose if you are at a consistent deficit.
2. Giving up too easily is helped by learning how weight loss works, making a realistic plan and preparing yourself to commit and be consistent by having the right mindset.
You cna make a start with the information in this thread about how the basics of weight loss work.

Back in the day, I never did logging. Last year when I was using myfitnesspal through my smartphone I was, but of course I gave up. I'm back onto counting again.
