Body Recomp or continue cutting?

I am at a point in my weight loss that I am starting to stall. I've been cutting for ~6 weeks and have not seen any more significant scale changes. I'm also at my goal weight, but was trying to go a bit lower (for summer). I'm at a quandary as do I continue to cut and decrease my macros or do I start body recomp? I'm lifting 4 days a week and do some cardio (HIIT or running) 2 days a week. I was planning a bulk after summer, but just wondering if I should just slowly change with a recomp now? Any advice?

If you aren't losing it's due to poor logging. But if you are at goal why are you trying to lose more?

YOur diary is open so I can see a lot of things that are causing no weight loss..

If you start eating more, based on not losing and your diary, for a recomp/maintenance...be prepared...

If you want to lose start logging accurately using a food scale and log consistently

If you want to recomp start logging accurately using a food scale and log consistently

I would suggest dropping your cals by 100, assuming you are tracking properly, and make sure you are doing a tried, tested and true progressive lifting program. Not sure what your 4 days now consist of.

If you're at your goal weight, then stop trying to lose. You're obviously already eating at maintenance, thus the reason you haven't lost in 6-ish weeks. Keep logging and lift heavy (if you aren't currently). Lifting heavy is the best way to recomp your body and may give you the results you're after without losing any/much scale weight.

Just curious at what you think is causing poor weight loss? I have been losing its just I'm slowing down and I only wanted to lose a bit more for summer (since I know what typically happens for me). I'm not unhappy with my current weight. I do weigh everything so that's not the issue. On the days I don't log I still weigh my food so I know I'm staying within my calorie goal.

Thanks! I think this is what I'm going to do for a few weeks and then see where I am. I completed Livefit and started Simply Shredded last week

Thanks for the response. I'm not at my maintenance calories, but just shy of them. Its not that I haven't lost on the scale because the inches have gone down and pictures show a difference. The scale has had some changes, but I just wasn't sure if I was just slowing down my loss due to being at my goal. My concern was that I was told I was looking "frail" and didn't want to lose more weight and want to have some gains, but not bulk yet before summer. I am new to this and thought maybe recomping would be a better option.

because of the logged entries by cups, slices, 1/2 medium x along with the lack of logging...

If you can keep track of your calories, protein etc in your head great...but highly doubtful.

and other things where the macro grams just don't add up to the calories...

    Per your OP...

To me that means you haven't lost weight in 6 weeks eating the way you are eating..which means you are eating at maintenance but your diary doesn't show maintenance.....you say you are cutting.

You're slowing down because you're getting lighter. The less you weigh, the less your body burns every day. You need to cut down your calorie intake a bit to keep losing weight.

Thanks everyone. Again I'm really at my goal and was just looking to maybe shed a few pounds as a buffer because I don't want to go above. I was looking for more advice about recomp vs cutting.

Recomp is a long process. So if you do choose to eat at maintenance over the summer to go for a bulk in the fall have at just be careful with the logging.

I personally prefer a recomp and will be doing hopefully a year long one soon. And of course summer is a great time to be eating at maintenance.... :)

It doesn't matter the choice it's all about the logging.

I guess it's all up to how you feel in the end. If you feel like you have fat left that you'd want to lose quickly, then you should probably keep cutting. If you're okay with it taking longer to lose the fat, but at the same time shape your body and building a little bit of muscle, then you might as well go into recomp. However, you will probably not see any difference before summer (haven't done recomp myself but I heard it can take quite some time to see any noticable difference) so if you want a lot to change before summer, maybe you should cut a bit more first.
You could also make your calories a dealbreaker - do you feel like you could sustain a diet where you cut your calories even more than right now?
Last thing - you said you planned on bulking after the summer. Remember that this will add both fat and muscle, so if you feel like there's too much fat on your body currently, cut some first!

    Hope that helped :)

Thanks :) I could afford to decrease slightly so think I'm going to cut my calories a bit and change my macros for a few weeks to see what happens.

Guess by the looks of this we will both be trying to lose a few extra pounds before summer and then recomp time...hope yours goes well.
