I know, I know...don't get all your health info from the news media, however this article should be of interest to those who believe in an "everything - not processed- in moderation" is a safe bet for losing weight and changing your way of eating on your road to sound health.

Eggs. Butter. Red meat. Consumed in moderation, all of these foods' health benefits outweigh the risks.

Welcome!

FTA, with some editorializing by yours truly:
Sorry, bacon lovers, but bacon is a cured, processed meat. There is plenty of evidence [none of which we will link, or even attempt to explain, in this article] linking consumption of processed meats to heart disease, cancer and diabetes.
I just love pop-science articles, they are the best. I would love to read up on how my bacon habit is going to kill me, but alas, I will be content with just being told that it is so.

    Also FTA:
It’s bad for you. It was then, it is now. And it’s not just the tooth decay or the obesity or the diabetic risk; studies increasingly point to sugar as a culprit in inflammation, which may link to autoimmune diseases, cancer, heart disease, and more.
At least they offered a link to their "SUGAR IS THE DEBBIL" claim, but it's to another freaking magazine!

Is all this stuff about "inflammation" broscience or is there some actual nugget of truth to it?

Bite me. I'm-a keep eating my bacon. (Although usually I have uncured turkey bacon, is that better???)

No, no it's not. That's a waste of calories that you could spend on real bacon.

This is a great article if you just kind of skim it and pretend the title is "Here are some delicious foods I like to eat."

Still eating bacon, still enjoying cake - just not pounds of it every day.

    Bacon makes everything better.

I love an article that says they knew something was wrong but never mind it's not wrong. Then turns around and says these things are for sure bad.

    Ok. Suuuuuuuuure.

Sugar and bacon are bad because people that have health issues eat these things so they must be the culprit since we changed our mind about the other stuff.

The article is funny, but the comments at the end are funnier.

I knew I was an adult when I realized I could eat bacon whenever I wanted.

Oh for sure! I recall the late 1970s or early 1980s they were shamed for their fat content, and who can forget the early/mid-1990's FAT FREE fad (i.e., the Snackwells Years).

This made me laugh out loud. (because it's true)

And, I don't understand how bacon is bad. I eat uncured, no-sugar, no-nitrate, hickory smoked bacon and I don't understand why the salted or smoked part of it would make it bad. Isn't that how they made meat last longer before someone invented refrigerators?

ETA: I would eat a maple bacon donut in a heartbeat, no questions asked (except why is the bacon "bad"?) :D

    1. I eat eggs everyday. Mostly egg whites (never really liked the yoke unless scrambled), but some things need whole eggs.
    2. Don't love read meat. Feel too sluggish after eating it. Still eat cold cuts on occasion and love me some sausage. All things in moderation.
    3. Don't love butter, but will use it when needed.
    4. Don't mess with my coffee.
    5. Don't mess with my avocados.
