Am I doing enough?

Before I get too far into my routine I would like some advice on if I'm doing enough to lose a steady 2lb a week?

I'm starting to go the gym each weekday morning before work, doing between 45 minutes and an hour, doing a mixture of cardio and strength training.

I am also walking with my dog 3 or 4 times a week at a distance of around 4-6 miles,
is this enough?

more than enough. I'd cut the gym down to 3x/week with a day off in between, and concentrate on diet

It is irrelevant. You will lose weight by eating less than you burn. You exercise mainly to get in shape and healthier, and because you have the bonus of being able to eat a little more. So, you can move little to not at all, and lose weight by reducing calories enough, you can spend hours exercising, then eat everything back and lose nothing.

Whilst true you dont need to exercise for weight loss, it can have a beneficial and supplementray effect by contributing calorie burns to the overall deficit. Depending how much you do this can be very helpful. It is not irrelevant. It does take a fair bit of exercise to burn significnat amounts.

Oh and to answer your question.
Its all estimates, does the sume of your efforts amoint to a 7000 calorie deficit? monitor it and see what happens, adjust as needed. dont burn out or overdo it.

Thanks for the replies! I'm eating a healthy diet of around 1300 calories at the same time, but have a pretty sedentary job which is why i exercise daily!
