I spend a lot of time in airports trying to find a healthy meal or snack is almost impossible. . So planning ahead is key .. low carb protein powder or a bag of turkey jerky definitely comes in handy. Sitting in STL airport now feeling the lure of fast food whisper my name. Where's that jerky again?

not sure of the point of your post but I travel for work alot too and swear airports are designed to test us to the max food wise... why oh why do they out every yummy food consession known to man there when your stuck for hours? Last week at Luton airport - 6 hour's of staring at the donuts on a metal seat...

Usually a weatherspoons in uk airports with skinny steak or one of there meals under 500 though. I research the departure lounge etc before getting there to plan what to eat, wish I had your determination to stick with Jerky or a shake! Those benches are super uncomfortable to sit on and eat Jerky, comfy airport resturant seats are where I'm at!

I found the Pret to be my best option in Luton. Then I ate it staring at the Hotel Chocolat stand. *weeps*

Hit the "convenience store" stall and fill yourself up on as many healthy-ish snacks as you can--nuts, granola bars, fruit, veggie crisps... even if they're a little hi cal, it'll keep you from accidentally indulging in 1,000 more calories worth of donuts or pizza! Starbucks and similar coffee shops usually have calories posted and offer salads, or at least lighter meal choices. Airports were the bane of my existence when I was touring frequently (that and trying to eat healthy at gas stations/truck stops, which is pretty similar).

I always load my carry-on with protein bars, almonds, and fresh veggies. My seat neighbors usually look at me weird when I pull a 1lb bag of sugar snap peas out of my bag and start chowing down, but on an 18 hour flight, you've gotta have snacks!

Just remember to toss any produce before you get off the plane after an international flight. I almost went to a Beijing prison over a banana.

The same thing happened to me when i tried to bring my Peruvian trail mix back into the U.S.! Admittedly, American jail is probably cushier than Chinese jail?

Hit the bar instead...that's the best place to be in an airport.
