Do you log every morsel?

I don't bother logging tiny bites of things, I just try to stay under my daily calorie goal by around 100 calories to make up for anything I didn't log. I don't go snacking on nuts or any high calorie foods without logging them. But if I measure out one serving of crackers and then decide to eat one more cracker, I don't log that. I also don't eat back my exercise calories.
Not only that, but how do you even attempt to log one bite of a sandwich? It is nearly impossible.
You're either going to be way under or way over -the chance of actually logging that accurately is probably one in a million. I think you should just be more strict and not take bites or tastes of things if you're that worried about logging them. Or don't eat EXACTLY at your calorie goal, to leave some room for small things that aren't logged or underestimating, etc.
If I know that I spent the entire day snacking on stuff and definitely consumed a few hundred extra calories, then yes I"ll try to log those as best as I can. But, if I know I only had one tiny bite of something all day, I'm not going to bother logging it. If it becomes a habit where I'm doing that every day, then I need to make changes in how/what I'm eating.0 -
I read on another post, someone who Quick Adds 100 calories at the beginning of her day to account for the small stuff she doesn't log. I thought that was a good idea.
I don't log diet soda, black coffee, herbs or spices or hot sauce, including siracha. I feel like it must have calories though and use quite a bit sometimes! I love siracha....
I do log lettuce, but not the splash of vinegar I might put on the lettuce - weird right?
I don't log herbs, spices or vinegar.. because the calories in what I'm consuming are too miniscule. and I'm not going to sit there and measure out 1 tsp of vinegar. To me, that's just too obsessive.
Little cheats here and there are definitely NOT what caused me to be overweight in the first place. I am overweight due to years of not eating right, over eating, and too much fast food.0 -
Yes, even the one sugar free wintergreen mint I have after lunch some days. I can't be trusted to choose the right things not to log so I log everything.0

I agree in theory but struggle with how to do this practically. My husband bought a pretzel at the mall yesterday. I ate one bite. How do I log that? We are at the mall so no scale. Just 50 or so quick calories?
I wouldn't log it, its not going to keep you from losing weight unless you do that many times a day, every day of the week.0 -
I love the idea of quick adding calories. I have been putting 100 on every day for the past few days. Protects my calorie limit if I do grab a nut or 2...0

i do when im losing, yes.. doesnt work if you dont... You tuck a few almonds away every day, plus a few other picky bits, you can quiet easily find yourself not in deficit and therefore not losing weight0

I normally check the calories in a serving size. So if I eat about 1/4 of a serving thats negligible I dont bother to put it in. Thats normally a limit of 50 calories anything below that is not worth the effort. But if I eat 3 or 4 items that add up to lets say 40 each then I do add them individually.0

I log anything with appreciable calories. So watermelon and almonds, yes. Diet pop or a single splenda packet, a tea bag or my water...no. 1/3 cup of splenda. ..yeah.
I also weigh and measure as closely as possible0 -
The only thing that I don't log is free samples at the grocery store, I figure they wouldn't be free if I had to log them.0

Hell yes, almonds and melon are quite calorific as well so it will make a difference! I even log chewing gum0

Yes. I am very serious about loosing the weight. So that means I have to give 100% effort if want success. I don't graze. That is a guaranteed way to fail. If I need to nibble I take the time to weigh out a portion and log it.

and that alone sometimes is enough to keep me from having a snack. im being lazy and dont want to put that much effort into it LOLOLOLOL0 -
No I don't... but at the same time I don't usually eat all of my calories allotted when I do that. So I guess it evens out. Life's too short to be wondering about every nibble... and I'm losing weight, so I don't worry... it's working for me. :drinker:0

I had a Weight Watchers leader explain this issue in this manner, and it makes me log every bite I put in my mouth to this day.
Imagine carrying around one of those plastic grocery bags with you all day long. Inside the bag, I want you to imagine putting every unlogged food bite you eat for the day. At the end of the day, when you look inside this bag, you may very well have several hundred calories that you're not accounting for.
Bites, tastes, and nibbles all have calories. Log them if you want a true measure of your daily calorie intake.0 -
yeah, everything, if i dont then im always conscious of what and how much im eating. to be honest it doesnt really matter if you log the amount of things you eat as long as youre conscious of what youre eating and how much, and you know the nutrition facts behind it all. of course this is just me, a lot of people forget or dont know how to accurately count calories, if im not losing weight this week ill know exactly why. there are no surprises, whatever you eat and however much you eat will reflect your results.0

Yes. I've gone as far as logging the TWO little Skittles that my DH has a dish full.0

Yes. If it's a sample, I'll usually just log it as a fraction of whatever the food is. I don't get worked up over the accuracy of the log though.0

I TRY. Really hard. I got in the habit of taking a few extra licks of ice cream here or there and it just wasn't working out on a 250 calorie deficit.
I'd especially be logging almonds. 100 calories of almonds is like nothing.0 -

Nuts? I'd be nuts not to log them, they are packed with good stuff including energy (calories).0 -
I try to as much as I possibly can. Like it has been said before; those few little snacks here and there can REALLY add up. Then people wonder why they are not losing weight0

I leave a buffer of 100-ish calories everyday to account for licking peanut butter off my finger or a stolen bite of my husband's ice cream or tasting food as a cook.
I love to cook and get creative in the kitchen and I never use recipes so tasting my food as I cook is imperative if I want the final product to taste worth a damn. How do you log a lick of the spoon to test for seasoning? I just can't even go that far.
Mustard and herbal tea are not what made me overweight so I'm okay letting them slip through the cracks.

Yes everything because it keeps me real on this journey. I'm usually under for my 1300 daily cals and I don't eat my exercise cals so there is some room for a nibble here and there. We were in Sam's Club where I had taken a taste cup of 5 Skittles. Logged it in! I'm committed to the point that my husband just asked if I wanted a 2 oz bourbon sip and I replied, "Sorry no more calories for the day!"0

When I had made my third pan of chocolate peanut butter bars to give away, I decided I'd actually like to, you know, have some. I had already loaded the ingredients into MFP's recipe builder. I weighed the whole batch and mathed out the calories per gram, then I broke a small chunk off of the corner and weighed it to figure out the calories I was about to consume. I wound up eating a whole bar later on anyway, but it was a fun exercise in accountability.0

Yeah, me too!
One of my coworkers just came around with something similar to, but slightly larger than, gummy bears. I couldn't be bothered trying to figure out what they were and how many calories might be in them ... so I just said, "No thank you". That was easier.
