Beans did you manage to get your weights today? :drinker:

I don't know why I fool myself. This time of year, I can't go anywhere by myself & I had already braved Babies R Us with all the kids & didn't want to tackle a sporting goods store....call me crazy but taking 3 kids into a place where weights & treadmills are a plenty just doesn't sound like a good idea to me. LOL

I'm hoping before January I'll be able to go get some....by myself....without the kids.

I didnt get my email from them saying it had come out already. But then again my email wasnt working for 2 days. It probably tried to come one of those days. I wonder if I can do it. I do some step classes on Monday, Wed and Friday at the gym and then on Tuesdays a Belly, Booties and Biceps class and on Thursday a Bosu and Ball class. I am just getting to do a little bit of weights. Right now I use 5 lb weights most of the time and depending on which exercise it is I might either use 2.5 or either a 7 lb weights. It also depends on how sore I am. LOL

Connie - you should be just fine. The program doesn't say things like, "OK, everybody pick up a 25 lb. dumbbell for this next exercise." It's designed so that anyone can do it. The key is lifting the weights you can lift to stay within the desired rep. range on the videos. The program even does a great job breaking this down, as it comes with a DVD that talks all about proper lifting w/the moves, choosing your weights, and safety. It's laid out very well!

Let me know if they do alot of planks and stuff like that. Those are so hard to do especially the side ones. I really want to start it but will have to do it after Christmas before I can afford to buy it. At least you can split it into 3 payments. I really really want it and would love for Santa to bring it to me but my hubby already got me a Polar F6 for me for Xmas.

So, Jess...how'd it go? My husband is now showing interest in this one instead of P90x (he wants to start "getting fit" now, too. Hhhmm...wonder where he got THAT idea from. :drinker: )

Ok, I'm dying to know about the videos.

Is it fine to use free weights. I do 5lb weights for the Turbo Sculpt so any suggestions on what I should get for this series. I can't afford the all in one (I'm not sure what they're called) ones, but I could get some free weights.

This was brought up earlier in the post... suggestions were from 5#'s up to 20#'s for these workouts.
The "all in one" in the video are from Bowflex and cost a lot (but may be worth the investment if you have the funds and want to keep space clear).

I am still dying to know what the videos are like (time length, etc) before I am willing to comit to ANOTHER workout program. I mean, I have P90X... don't want to just keep buyin the same stuff over and over.

Ok, sorry I didn't check in earlier!! I got it last night and read through the materials!! It comes in a beautiful package w/ a nutrition food guide and a Muscle Burns Fat manual.

I did Burn Basics #1 today- it was 42 minutes and a great workout! I loved it!

Oh, and YEAH for your dh joining you!!! My dh has lost about 17# from doing P90X with me since March!!!!!!! It's sooo fun to have them on the healthy lifestyle with you!

Let me know if you have any more questions!

The first workout Chalene used from 5# - 25#. They have a modifier using a resistance band, someone using lighter weights, and Chalene using the Bowflex weights. They are definitely different than P90X!! (but that's not a bad thing!) The first DVD was 42 min and I'm not sure of the length of the rest of them but I'll let you know!

Sounds like you're enjoying it so far, Jess! So is that longer or shorter than a typical P90x workout? Quite frankly, I can't commit to a workout unless it is 50min. or less b/c my kids won't give me an entire hour block to myself. It is like they know that hour is creeping up & an alarm goes off in their heads to be naughy.

The P90X videos are all closer to 1 hour; 52-58 minutes is typical for the weight days, plus 16 minutes of AbRipper X. The YogaX video is 90 minutes.

I'm not sure about all of them, but the first one was 42 min. I'll let you know as I do them how long they are! So far they are a little shorter and only 5 days a week (2 rest days). So if that seems a bit easier for your schedule then it would be a good one for you!

I'm jealous that you are starting already, Jess!
I need to kick this virus to the curb!!!!

Question for you... did you get confused about the calendar layout?
It doesn't really specify... well, ok, here's an example.

I'm starting the program on a Monday, which puts the final "measure" and rest day for the first month on a Tuesday. What the book doesn't specify is whether I jump right into the next phase on the very next day OR if I take the rest of the week as rest and start the next month on a Monday again (or whatever day the Day 1 fell on).
    How do you read it?
A few of us have asked the fitness advisors but haven't gotten a response yet.

Funny that you asked that! I was just looking at it earlier thinking the same thing! I think that I would just keep on going, it doesn't seem like there is a recovery week in there like P90X. Let me know what you find out!

And I know you'll love the workouts!

I have the One on One's, but I think they're more of an add on than a regular *program* like P90X or CLX. They're good though, I got my Fountain of Youth (yoga) this month but haven't had a chance to try it out yet!

I just started being able to do all of Turbo Sculpt in the Turbo Jam package so I'm thinking I'm going to wait a couple months. Maybe.

I'm so glad you like the workouts, Jess! That's encouraging! Is the music as funky & upbeat as the rest of her stuff?

Ooh, I love the Turbo Sculpt too!

These are very different from her TJ workouts though. She's really into the weight training. The music is different in the weight training mainly because she doesn't want you lifting to the beat or using momentum. It's all about slower, heavier weight training which is AWESOME!!

Although the cardio did have more of an upbeat feel to it, and is great too!! I think these are spectacular workouts. She's really outdone herself w/ an amazing food guidelines, audio CD, and the DVD's!!

HTH and feel free to ask away if you think of any questions about them!
