Okay, what was your "I have to do something" moment. Mine became when the wonderful honesty of children reminded me that I am fat. Can't blame them for being honest.

Hating every picture I ever see of myself because I look too fat in each one. I never thought I looked fat in the mirror really but when clothes keep getting tighter I know the pictures aren't lying.0

someone asked me if i was pregnant0

I just pulled out my summer clothes. That was depressing. None of my pants fit and my arms are so much thicker than last summer that my tops look embarrassingly bad as well. I refuse to by up a size, so I'm kicking it in high gear...which means I will most likely be wearing skirts most of the summer until I can get the weight off.0

when my mother , who recently lost some weight, gave me some of her old clothes.0

My bf telling me, honey I want to you lose weight because after we get married I know we both want an family and I don't think it would be fair to your or our children's health if you don't lose at least 100 pounds.
Creating a family is the most important thing to me and I want us all to be healthy and happy and at 312 pounds he was right and I knew it. Obese mothers have a much higher risk of having pregnancy issues, miscarraige and having babies with birth defects and I didn't want to be the cause of that kind of pain to my family or myself.
It was time to take action. Busting my butt everyday for what I love and my dreams.0 -
Laying in the hospital bed, hooked up to oxygen, recovering from a near fatal asthma attack! Thinking to myself I am only 39, what is the rest of my life going to be like?0

I had already noticed significant weight gain but hadn't done anything about it. One afternoon, a co-worker and I went out to happy hour after work. We ordered fried calamari, chicken strips, onion rings and steak fries. I felt so gross! The next day I signed up for MFP and am now 31 lbs lighter!0

when I started getting irregular heart beats constantly. My lower back was always hurting...and I actually hit hte 200 mark on the scale. But the irregular heart beats was the scariest part. With a better diet and daily exercise they have stopped. Now I work towards getting smaller all the way around and feeling GOOD! I want to be rid of the back pain. My frontage hurts my backage.0

When my plus-size 24 pants were getting too tight, which meant nothing else would fit after that!!(the small town I lived in only had a walmart!)0

I second this!
sick of "the turn to the side, face only pictures"
Does this angle make me look fat? YES, because I wasHating every picture I ever see of myself because I look too fat in each one. I never thought I looked fat in the mirror really but when clothes keep getting tighter I know the pictures aren't lying.0 -
Getting on the scale and weighing 5 lbs heavier than my "I'll never get this heavy" weight that I had set about 6 years before. :sad:0

Sitting in the ER with blood pressure of 256/147.
Scared skinny.:laugh:0 -
someone asked me if i was pregnant
Same here....and I actually thought I was...being an overweight female actually raises your risk of polycystic ovarian disease which throws off your monthly visitor...I had a lot of the symptoms but false alarm. After all that craziness, I knew I had to change something. Good question!!!0 -

Yep...that'll do it! lol!0 -
Spending 5 days in Fiji - and not once venturing outside the resort - as I would need to WALK - heaven forbid! Just realized that I want to be the intrepid explorer - not the slouch moving between the pool lounger and the restaurant on my holidays.0

When I was pushing at morbid obesity, my uh oh moment was going for a leisurely walk with some friends while we talked, and realizing that I could not slowly amble, on a flat surface, without sweating profusely and audibly huffing and puffing.
Recently, when some of the pounds I had lost came back, my uh oh moment came when I tried to put on some pants I had bought TWO months ago, and I get them only a couple of inches past MY KNEES. The rapidity was scarier than the actual pounds!0 -
My little step-daughter (7) told me I look like I'm going to have a baby was one, and two, summer and swimsuit is snug. I also refuse to buy a bigger size of my summer wardrobe. Right now my shorts don't fit and neither do my tank tops. That is a real bummer because I use to use those tops to work out in and they are too short right now and tight.0

My uh oh moment was putting on some clothes one day and being unable to hide my stomach - normally I can look decent enough in my clothes (and basically hide my pooch), but one day I went through my closest and nothing I chose would disguise my tummy..........that pissed me off! Another one was every skirt above my knee - I hated the fat right above my knees - nothing looked good on me, and I find that I don't wear short skirts anymore because of my thighs and the fat right above my knees! Oh, and don't get me started on the double chin!
That's when I decided, I gotta lose this weight (tummy and all)!0 -

I was eating some popcorn.
I dropped a kernel, and it landed on my stomach ... and stayed there.
Figured it was time to get rid of THAT 'shelf.'0 -

Being diagnosed with moderately severe depression which I knew was because I've hated myself so much for all the weight I've gained! I refuse anti-depressant meds and am doing what I know I need to do to cure it!0

I've had so many "uh oh" moments in the last year. Ranging from seeing myself in pictures to not being able to put on jeans. But I think the worst was this past Easter. I had literally NOTHING to wear to our outside family BBQ because it was all too tight. I had no shorts because I had "grown" out of them all, no cute sun dresses, no cute tops to go with the one pair of jeans I owned that didn't create such an extreme muffin top. I literally had NOTHING. So, I found a pair of old jeans my aunt had given me that were too big for her that were size 10s! I've never been bigger than a size 6! So, I tried them on, and they were too tight!!!!!! Then, I tried on another pair that she had given me (these hand me downs were supposed to go to Goodwill last year and somehow ended up in the back of my closet) and they fit ok...but they were total mommy jeans. I was running out of time and almost didn't even want to go, so I cut them up and turned them into rolled up shorts. They looked ridiculous and may as well have been higher than my belly button. Forget trying to find a cute top to go with these monstrosities, so I had to wear a t-shirt, of course it was too tight, with a bathing suit top underneath so I could make it seem that I planned on getting into the water. I mostly always wear heels, and obviously heels wouldn't go with this hideous outfit...so I wore running shoes. This was my absolute last straw. I was always the one in the cute outfit or dressed somewhat decent. I looked like I should have been gardening or something.
I was so uncomfortable and so miserable and it showed. The next day I signed up for MFP and have been making some changes so I never have to feel the way I felt that day ever again.
*EDIT*: I sound like a total shallow brat going back and reading this story. In short...I guess not having a single thing in my closet that actually fit and having to fashion a pair of shorts out of my aunt's old "fat" jeans would be the gist lol.0 -
my uh-oh moment was when me and my fiance were getting ready to fly out of town... note this was the first time that i traveled with him and was embarrassed to ask for a seat belt extention in front of him [he has never had a problem with my weight, it's just me being insecure] So we walk up to the kiosk to see if we can get seats next to each other, the lady had the ball to ask if i would fit in the seat!!! that's when i knew this had gone way to far! i really got a good perception of how other people seen me... that's always so oblivious to an overweight person... always thinking that "im not that big... am i?"
60 pounds lighter as of this morning!! wooohooo!!! I can't wait to get on a plane now!0
