I'm 5'8" and just wondered if I'd set a realistic goal for myself, I'm currently a UK size 18 having dropped from a UK size 20, my goal is to be a UK size 10 weight 9st 6 lbs or 132lb or 59.87kg

I've already bought myself a pair of lovely gap jeans in my goal size as incentive on dark days x

I'm 5'8" in in about the same position with the same goal. :)
  • Around 120-125lbs/8st8lbs-9st9lbs, which I know is light for 5'8" but I feel like that would be my happy place. (I have a small frame) Currently I'm 135lbs/9st9lbs and am a size UK 8. I'm actually reconsidering my goal weight but I'm just going to keep going until I'm happy. I do want to start heavier weight training though to put on some muscle which will make me 'gain' muscle weight so I'm not really sure anymore. I started at around 185lbs/13st3lbs :)

I'm 5'8" and am aiming for 144 pounds and a size 8. I would rather be healthy and look good than get stuck focusing on a scale weight / size, though. I've been doing a weight lifting program to attempt to get defined muscles and I know muscle does add more mass to the body. If I end up a bit heavier than the goal so be it... it's all about feeling good in the long run.

I'm 5'8 1/2 and very large boned, I'm headed for 180lbs to start, then see where it goes from there! I'm at 260 right now.

I'm 5'8" with a first goal of 154 which would put me at 100 pounds lost but I was talking to my doctor recently and he said I could reasonably get down to 135 and be OK (just no lower) so I will probably revise to 140 and see how I feel at that point. I always thought I had a borderline large frame but I think really I was just fat and fooling myself.

We were in the same boat!! I always thought and so did everyone else that I was large frame.. nope, just fat because now at 153 I can wrap my thumb and pointer finger around my wrist and it lap over! Was just pure fat!

That seems quite a low weight to me but it depends on your frame. I'm 78kg currently and I fit a UK 12-14. I'm aiming for somewhere between 65kg and 70kg. I haven't decided yet. But I have quite a muscular build and I tend to look a little bit smaller than my weight would suggest. 59kg on me would look far too thin.

I'm almost 5'9" and currently around 330 lbs. Throughout high school I was between 250-275 lbs. So, honestly, in my fully developed body, I have no idea what I can be. That being said, my current goal is about 165 lbs. I don't care about pants size. That's so trivial to me. I just want to be healthy. I think a US size 14 or 12 would be the lowest I could go. I've got big bones.

I'm 5'8" and am aiming for around 180 as a goal weight. I have a large frame (broad shoulders, etc), so I think if I get below that I'll feel like I'm starving myself. I guess we'll see what happens when I get there though!

    125. I don't know if I can get back there, but that's the number I'd like to hit.

I'm still so huge at 183 that it will be at least 30 more pounds before I can really set final goals.

But my high school weight is the one I'd like to hit again. If I could, which it doubt, but I'll see. :)

Don't know if this helps...but I was never skinny...the gym says I have a medium build...I weighed about 135 in high school, at one point in college I was 121, after my son was born I was 127...my doctor set my goal at 130. 134 has always been my "happy weight"...and my doctor said she'd be OK with that. Good luck!!

I'm 5'7 1/2 (but usually say I'm 5'8 :) ) and I'd be happy to get to around 140. I'm 150 now. My longterm goal would be around 130 OR to drasticlly change how my body looks and put on tons of muscle.

I'm 5'8", started at 215 pounds. I am now 174 pounds. To be in a healthy BMI I would need to be 164.4, so I'll see what I look like then. I weighed 155 in HS and thought I was fat, but 3 kids later and my body has changed, so I think my ultimate goal is 160 pounds, also I have a large frame and very muscular.

I'm sitting at 132, started at 150. I'm kinda wishy washy on where I'd like to be. Maybe between 130-135 and call it good.

I'm 5'8" and my goal is 145lbs. I'd love to get down to 140 and maintain from there with a bit of a cushion. The heaviest I've ever been is 167. I'm 151 right now. I have a small frame so don't carry weight particularly well.

My ultimate goal is 155 but currently I am just aiming for 165 to see how I feel. I do not however want to go to much lower than 150 because my clavicle starts making me look like Skeletor

I'm planning on cutting down to 130 and then doing a slow bulk up to 140 before probably another cut. I'm 154 right now. I have a small/medium frame, and maintained 120-130 until my thirties.

I'm 5'8", small frame. I reached goal (138 lbs.) last year, have fluctuated by five pounds (up!) and still my US size 4s are loose. Sometimes I get a 2 if I can find them.

5'8'', initial goal is 160, but I think I might reevaluate that to 145-150 once I get there.

I already lost a lot off my belly and waist, but my thighs are losing sooooo slowly. It's so hard to find jeans that fit nicely right now!

5'8. Goal is 65kg but re-evaluation point is 70kg, which was my lowest "adult" weight and which, at the time, I thought was fat. I'll be interested to see what I think when I get back there.

I'm 5'8.5. I think that aiming for 9 stone 6 is okay but you wouldn't want to go any lower - at 59kg (about 9 stone 6) I was often asked if I had an eating disorder. I think that you may find it hard to maintain that weight and eat healthily, but you can see how you go. You don't need to be that low to look good and be healthy. I think that you need to try not to be too rigid. I had to get below 55kg before I was a size 8 (NZ same as UK but not US). Good luck!

I'm 5'8" and I'm currently 132 and am going to switch to maintaining soon once I get back to 130. I've always weighed around 130 except when I was underweght (and starving myself) and for the one semester when I ate four bagels a day and gained 12 pounds. :(

    Um, 58kgs for someone who's 5'8? That's very...low.

165 or so. When I was that weight I fit in a size 10-12 with a few size 8 that were generous. When I was that weight I still wanted to lose 10 more but when I look back at pictures I now think I was thin enough so that is what I am aiming for.

Very interesting, I hope my journey goes well. A week ago I was nagging my hubby about how much weight I have added n how I have been waiting for him to work out with me, but he categorically told me I can do it n it's my journey so I should not wait/ involve/ depend on anybody.i was very mad but started MFP immediately. Today I have already lost 2kg meeting my 10000 steps challenge, exercising, eating healthy and consciously:)

    I'm 5'8" ...............my goal is to be a UK size 10 weight 9st 6 lbs or 132lb or 59.87kg

    I'm sure at 5'8" you'd be a UK 10 and a higher weight!
    I'm a UK 8-10 and 9 stone 2 (128 lb) and i'm a 5'3.5 shortie.
Out of interest, how did you get 9st 6?

I used to weigh 9 st 6 and I am 5 8. I was a size 8 - 10. To be honest I think it depends on your bone structure etc.
