What foods, protein, carbs, snacks.. do you eat to manage your PCOS?

I have pcos and hormonal imbalances. I'm trying to find the right carb/protein ratio, healthy food choices, etc., recipes to eat to manage. Everywhere I look, shows we should eat a 40/30 protein to carb ratio with rest being fat. I'm having a HARD time getting that much protein into my day. Also, I've found that dairy is not good for pcos chicks so my cutting dairy and yogurt out of my diet makes it even harder to get the amount of protein needed each day. Can anyone help with this and or give some pointers?

I don't eat that much protein myself so I started putting whey protein in my smoothies. Taste yummy and very filling

Where'd you get those ratios? I usually just stick my body-weight (in lbs) of protein in grams...

Oh right, I guess I could've answered too lol..

I usually have quite a few eggs throughout the day :) a protein shake or 2, and at least 1 or 2 meals which include some kind of meat (fish, chicken, beef or ostrich)

A recent study findings said that for women with pcos, those ratios of proteins, etc help reduce symptoms

How much eggs do you eat a day? How many would be considered too many, cholesterol wise?

Why isn't dairy good for pcos? I have pcos and I eat a lot of dairy, I want to make sure I'm not making my symptoms worse.

I was diagnosed more than 20 years ago, never needed any special diet. And never saw any medical research indicating a special diet is needed. As long as my weight is on the low side of healthy and I exercise, I am symptom free.

There's a few websites that say that dairy increase s insulin sensitivity in pcos.

Good news is cholesterol from eggs is no longer a dietary concern/guideline

I have PCOS and insulin resistance and I eat according to the guidelines in a mayo clinic book called "the insulin resistance diet". I do eat dairy lots...it doesn't seem to bother my weight loss. 12 weeks in now and down 25 lbs.

That book focuses on eating your carbs in small quantities and with protein to minimize the insulin resistance response that causes blood sugar fluxuations.

When it comes to PCOS, or any other well known medical issue, I would not trust non-medical websites. The amount of nonsense you can find on the internet is astonishing.

The 2 doctors who diagnosed me with PCOS had the same recommendation, to keep my weight in check and make sure I don't put on too much. As long as I am on a healthy weight, I should be fine.

agree. I was diagnosed 4 years ago, and back then I had a BMI of 31. Now with a BMI of 19-20, I am symtom free. I was able to discontinue metformin when my BMI when down to 25, and my only "treatment" right now is a hormonal birth control implant (nexplanon).

I eat a lot of carbs every day, easily over 200g a day, and my maintenance calories are around 1800 per day.
