Do I have to track my sugars?

Hello everyone! I'm new here and don't know many things about calories counting. My daily calorie intake is 1350 and I usually keep it under like 100-200 calories in case I wasn't accurate enough. I'm not starving at all even though I'm pregnant at this moment but every time I look at my nutrition I see sugars overload. Today for example I got 106 g instead of 56 MFP wants me to consume. I heard from some ppl here that you don't have to track the sugars as long as you don't have special medical condition. I don't drink soda or eat donuts, it all comes from fruits, yogurts, low fat milk, peanut butter etc. No matter how hard I try I always go over. So will those extra sugars prevent me from losing weight?

I am at the very end of my pregnancy and I'm trying not to overeat at this moment. During all those months my eating habits weren't that good. My pregnancy is going excellent so far and my doctor doesn't mind me to track my calories.

You don't need to track sugar unless you're on a special diet or for medical reasons. Calories are what determines weight loss. You need a minimum of 1200 calories to maintain good health unless you are very, very short (like, you would qualify as a dwarf). Do not eat below 1200 calories unless you are under a doctor's strict supervision (and that doesn't mean he just says sure, track calories and lose weight...that means he ordered you to eat a very low calorie diet, gave you strict guidelines, and is monitoring your food intake daily).

I'm no expert but I don't think you need to track sugar unless your diabetic or maybe at high risk of being diabetic.

But 1100-1300 calories while pregnant. Shouldn't you me eating at maintenance? Not at a deficit?

Thank you guys for your concerns. I am 5'2 and not active at all at this moment. I never was limiting myself in calories before and during my pregnancy, always was satisfying my cravings but trying to eat good stuff at the same time. Well, Im not measuring my food so not sure if I really go under my daily intake, but I don't feel hungry at the end of a day. I started tracking calories and macros about a week ago not with purpose to lose weight (but I will set this goal once the baby is born) but to develop healthier eating habits and avoid overeating.

I'm not a diets fan at all, I don't feel that I'm on a diet, it just happens that I'm eating more veggies than pizza with MFP. I believe that few weeks before delivery I just need to slow down and turn off that "I'm pregnant, I don't care, let me eat that" attitude ☺, eat lighter food and drink more fluids.

I don't have all your details but off your height I think your meant to be eating closer to 1700 so you are eating 1100-1300 ish? That's a deficit and could be bad while pregnant. Let's say your underestimating and eating 1500 that still could be a deficit.

Maybe post your height, weight, activity levels and hopefully someone more experienced with pregnancy can weigh in.

But to me it sounds like your in a deficit and that could be bad for all involved.

Well that's what mfp gave me without consideration of me being pregnant. Couple months ago I wouldn't have it on my mind, I just thought that since I'm delivering very soon it would be a good idea not to overload myself too much with food these last days. Thank you for your replies

So your saying that's what mfp set as your maintenance calories. Sorry if you already say that, just 1200-1300 are numbers you normally see when people are trying to lose 1-2 pounds a week.

You should definitely watch your sugars. Too much can contribute to weight gain and is also unhealthy. I found this site:
