Do you log your fruit?

In the total MFP calorie counter, do most of you log your fruit? I have been and while I only have a few servings it puts me right over my sugar totals. I'm thinking about ommitting the fruit from my daily logs. Opinions?

yes. i don't keep track of my sugar macros though. plus fruit is sometimes high cal. i would be missing hundreds of calories over a week.0

Yes, sugar from fruit is still sugar. My diary is open, I eat a lot of fruit, all of it is logged.0

I guess I was used to weight watchers for the longest time. Fruits are free!! But while trying to lose weigt I suppose you are right about them adding up over the week.0

Yes. Three of those gala apples can put my sugar numbers in the negative pretty easy.
All things are good.. "In moderation"...0 -
If you aren't going to track accurately, what is the point of tracking at all?0

Yes. I feel the calories in fruit have to be factored into my day.0

Thank you all for your opinions0

Yup, for sure log my fruit. I eat at least a couple 100 grams every day. It adds up!0

If you don't want to see how sugar in fruit affects your daily sugar total, make some private entries for yourself that only have the calories for the fruits you eat and avoid putting in the grams of sugar....that way you can still track your calories.0

That is the reason I quit WW, I'm just starting out and I'm trying to gather as much knowledge as I can to help me along the way. If I don't ask the questions I will never know.TrudyJoy2313 wrote: »I guess I was used to weight watchers for the longest time. Fruits are free!! If I eat it, I log it. As soon as I saw the question, I figured it was from a ww person. It's something that drove me batty about their program...the idea of fruit and veggies being free.

Yes, I log all my fruit.0

Yes I log all my fruit :-)0

I log all of my fruit. They can be 70-110+ calories!
I don't pay attention to my sugar intake since I have a health reason to and a large percentage of my sugar comes from healthy things like fruit.0 -
The sugar macro is more for added sugar. The sugars from fruit, desserts, etc are in your carbs macro. IMO, switch your sugar macro to something else like fiber or potassium.0
-
It depends on how much fruit you eat. I don't eat enough to really affect my sugar or calorie goals significantly but I track it anyways because I like to track my macros and micros.0
-
Yes, log the fruit. It has plenty of calories and sugar. Over time, you can experiment with your macronutrients to find the best percentages for you. Maybe you try limiting all sugar (fruit included) and see how you feel energy wise, satiety, etc... You'll get the most out of the app if you log every single thing that goes into your mouth: condiments, fruits, and even vitamins!0

Yesterday I ate tons of fruit and went over on carbs but always log because they still have calories!0

I log everything I eat including fruits of vegetables because it all has calories. I need to know how many calories I am eating to lose weight. Some fruits and vegetables can add up to quite a few calories.
I look at calories first then glance at protein, fiber, fats, carbs and sodium. I don't even look at sugar because I don't have a health condition that requires me to monitor and limit sugar.0 -
Yes...
Also keep in mind that while sugar is sugar, the numbers MFP gives you are for added sugars. If you eat any fruit at all, you're going to be over that number. Personally, unless you are eating cake for lunch and washing it down with 40 oz Big Gulps (that would be a problem) or have a medical condition that warrants watching sugar, I'd just switch it to fiber or something.
Manage your macros, don't micro-manage your micros.0 -
Ah, I was just going to ask this today. I have 4g of sugar left and the only sugar I took in was from one banana & 2 teaspoons of honey for breakfast & a cup of strawberries for a snack just now. I am trying not to worry about it TOO much - but its hard not to notice, and I still want to track sugar....but try to tell myself to not stress about it. That's why I quit WW too. I wasn't losing a thing after a while, and since I jumped back on MFP I have lost 0.8-1 lbs a week. When I logged my food for the first day after WW I was like, WOAH, I was eating WAY too much.0

I log everything. An apples a day, a banana, and some berries don't negatively impact my overall balance. My overall carbs are usually at or below my self-imposed reduced daily target.0
-
yes yes yes. Fruits have calories so you should log them.0

I eat strawberries, banana and one apple or orange every day and yes i log them without going over my sugar limits.0

I track fiber instead of sugar. Had 25 grams by lunch time.0
