Anyone else out there doing the Full Plate-High Fiber diet? If so, has it helped you with your weight loss? What do you think of it?

What do you eat for a "Full Plate-High Fiber diet"? How many grams of fiber are you having in a day?

I did it for a short while. Did not adhere to it strictly. Wasn't doing it for weight-loss. Some good recipes, though!

Never heard of it. But I have a goal of 45g of fiber per day. I think it has helped me. Since I've been meeting that goal most days (more or less) I have found I'm never hungry. Plus, I get to eat a lot of pasta because one of the things I eat that is highest in fiber is Fiber Gourmet brand pasta.

How the heck are you making 45? I'm impressed!

2 oz of Fiber Gourmet pasta as 20g. That plus beans (I LOVE beans) whole grains and veggies. I love that I need to eat pasta now. B)

Wow. I try to get 25 g a day of fiber. Great job @Need2Exerc1se I'm not on any particular diet though. I just try eating balanced.

Same here. I was talking to my doctor about my weight loss and she suggested the fiber goal. It's a lot and I don't hit it every day but it has helped me a lot. It's the only diet "rule" I have. I read about Fiber Gourmet pasta on MFP and it all fell into place. Before that I had a real hard time trying to get so much fiber. Not sure what she (my doctor) intended I eat, but pasta works for me.

I get really bloated when I have too much fiber... but it may be because I have IBS. I have to find the median between enough and too much! :|

I'm getting some pasta and some of the snack crackers. I appreciate this. Fiber one bars get sooooo old sometimes.

Ditto! I thought 30g daily was over-the-top. I'm like you, though, love those legumes and high fiber foods.

I usually get around 35 grams a day. but i eat lots of veggies everyday and high fiber oat bran as well. I think the amount of fiber is what is heping me feel full and allowing me to have a even sugar levels so i never get that crash were i crave cause im just so hungry.

I'll have to see if I can locate that pasta, as that has kept me from choosing it. Most pasta doesn't have much fiber in it. It will give me more choices. I too have found it keeps me from being real hungry and also helps me curb my sugar cravings greatly. I think because of that, I also am making better choices or decisions when it comes to food.

That's easy. I've done 45 on 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000 calories. Chia seeds help - if you eat a whole foods non-starchy veggie with fruit diet, that's a no brainer. 50 is no problem.

Can you give an example of what you'd eat at 1500 to get 50g of fiber eating only whole foods? Most fruits and veggies that I eat really don't have all that much fiber. Chia seeds to have a lot but I find them bitter so don't eat many.

If I even get close to 20 grams I'm proud of myself. I really struggle with fiber. This pasta sounds wonderful! They don't sell it anywhere near me but it looks like I can buy it online. Might be worth it.

Like a lot of you, I really struggle with getting in 25g a day. Raspberries have 8g in a cup, so I have been incorporating them into my days as well as a sweet treat :)

I'm always over my fiber goal. I don't eat pasta, and very few grain-based products in general. What I do eat is tons of vegetables and 2-3 pieces of whole fruit a day. Never need to even think about fiber.

    +1

Mine is 25 and I can't hit that with "tons of veggies" and 2-3 pieces of fruit. Always need beans or bread (def going to look for that pasta though).

My fiber goal is 65g. I get pretty close to it by eating chia seeds and flax seeds with everything.

The problem with chia and flax is that they also add calories. When you're on a pretty low calorie goal, you have to replace, not add, things to get enough fiber.

I am super pro-fiber. I think most people undereat fiber and that every meal should be basically protein and fiber. I aim for 45g, but usually am closer to around 40. One of my favorite meals is cottage cheese (full fat, of course) and a 1/2 cup of fiber one cereal (14grams of fiber). But I eat lots of broccoli, cauliflower, beets, peppers, carrots, apples, berries. I am not fond of beans, but they are a good source of fiber. I also like high fiber wraps, the ones I eat are 9 grams of fiber. So really, a breakfast of 1 cup of fiber one and a lunch with 2 wraps filled with veggies, salsa, and guacamole and an apple (yummy, my lunch this afternoon) gives you around 50 grams of fiber.
