Does anyone here have dark/discolored inner thighs?

Sorry, I'm not sure what category to post this in so I picked one that I thought would work best.

Anyways, I made an account specifically to ask this question because I'm not having any success researching it. I'm hoping somebody here in the community has an answer! :)

I have big, noticeable dark patches/discoloration on both sides of my inner thighs. I have had this for 6 or so years, it's gotten worse over the years. I was pre diabetic around the time this appeared, but I am no longer pre diabetic. I regularly see my doctor and I have had complete blood work done and lots of other testing, and everything has come back normal. I have no diabetes, no insulin problems, nothing. Based on my symptoms I was tested for certain syndromes such as PCOS, I don't have that either. My doctor said despite me having problems with weight (which is currently under control, I've lost over 70 pounds the last year) I'm actually very healthy. My doctor does not know what has caused my dark inner thighs.

I'm Caucasian, and I have fair-pale type of skin.

My thighs are quite chubby, and they do touch. They rub together when I exercise. Would this have caused such extreme dark discoloration? Does anyone here have this and know what causes this? It's really embarrassing, i would like to get rid of it.

By the way, I also want to mention that my inner thighs is the only place I have this problem, it is nowhere else on my body. Thank you all for taking the time to read this, have a blessed day!

Sounds like it could possibly be acanthosis nigricans.

When I was heavier it really showed around my neck area and has almost entirely cleared up with my weight loss and no longer being diabetic.

    Beat me to it.

I think I have it, though mine is just darkly colored skin without any texture change. I've had it on my inner thighs since I was 6 (almost 40 years) and between my belly overhang since 15 (30 years). The belly section has lightened a little since I've lost weight, it no longer colors the very upper parts of my thighs though still on my stomach. I don't have diabetes or any other immune disorder.

Sounds to me it's been caused by the rubbing. When I was 17yo, and the changes induced by puberty were about to be achieved, I started to have rubbing thighs. Up to the point of bleeding.
I can't walk with naked thighs, no matter how many pounds I lose. It's caused by bone structure.

Anyway, I noticed, at that time some darker skin patches where the thighs rubbed again each other. Because I haven't walk with naked legs for 17 years now (here's to spanx, pantyhose and so on) those patches disappeared.
