I'm 5'5. But I eat lots of veggies but not meat or fish. I thought I'll give it a try since I've never been off meat ever to see if it helps. What do you mean by adding fat?

How many grams of fat do you eat per day? Your body needs a certain amount to maintain good health (hormonal health being one). Adding healthy fat to your meals is also a good way to increase calories if you're eating too few calories but struggling with volume (avo, whole eggs good olive and nut oils, nuts, seeds, oily fish, coconut oil and coconut products, butter, full fat dairy)

If you aren't eating meat or fish, you need to make sure you're getting sufficient protein from other sources.

I'm also 5ft 5....id look like a skeleton at 47kgs. I'd be more worried with having a healthy body fat percentage. Rather than losing weight, you may find focusing on putting on lean mass will be more beneficial.
Eating "healthily" isn't necessarily a good sign you are healthy.

Okay I just checked on some days I've eaten about 12-13 grams of fat and on others a maximum of 22 grams but no more. Yes I do add olive oil to almost everything I eat, but no meat or fish. How exactly would I be able to put on lean mass? But no need to worry I don't look like a skeleton at all. It's just for my dance that I have to maintain this weight. Once I get to it that is.

That really isn't sufficient fat. I'd be aiming for 30-50 at the very least. More if you had more calories. The way you're going you'll be messing up your body functions, hormones, brain health etc.

Why do you not eat meat or fish? Are you getting enough protein? You want to try and maintain muscle mass as much as possible - with all the training you do, you likely need more protein than you think.

Losing weight is not the same as losing fat. You may need a certain "look" for dance, but that won't be achieved the way you're going. Maintaining the muscle you do have, or growing lean muscle through resistance training will give you better body composition.

But my fitness pal says I need to a 25 g intake of fat per day :/
I know my intake now is a bit less but I thought that might help with the weight loss. You're probably right I should eat more but believe me I do eat very well just not enough I guess. Thank you so much for all you input it's honestly very helpful :)

Fat will not make you fat! Please don't be scared of it.

Like I said before, eating "healthy" doesn't make you healthy. If you aren't providing your body with enough nutrients you'll be malnourished and possibly cause yourself all sorts of long term issues. Constantly eating low calories will lower your BMR, so you'll need to spend time working on getting it back to "normal". If you're really interested in achieving a certain physique, and want to be healthy and have the energy to dance I would suggest finding a coach/dietician/sports specialist who can guide you.

That's exactly what I've been doing. Consulting a dietician and my coach etc. Which is why I know I'm not depriving my body of any nutrients. I don't eat any junk and as far I know that only does good things for ones body. All I was wondering was as I've said before a couple of times why my intake doesn't meet the required intake despite eating well and being satisfied. Thank you for your help though you really have been very helpful

In one place you mention a nutritionist. In this one, a dietician. They are not the same. And who knows what education your coach has regarding appropriate nutrition?

You say you're 18, but your profile says 20.

You may want to reevaluate your goals, track accurately, and eat to your goal.

    I'm 18 years old.

    Yet your profile says 20.

You have a goal that is underweight ... trying to defend your goal weight with misconceptions that a dancer won't look/be malnourished is misguided ... the only one that doesn't seem to understand your problem is you.

I wasn't the one who made this which is why my age probably was accurately filled in but thank you coming to your own conclusions and accusing me of having a problem that is exactly what I need. As if I have mentioned before if you have something to say that in no way helps me DONT SAY ANYTHING. Thank you

The fact you don't recognize what is truly helpful for you is very revealing. Your goal weight is problematic. Your age issue is indicative of an integrity problem. You keep telling people to be quiet if they notice the problems your posts reveal, but that doesn't make the problems disappear.

I have no doubt that you will starve yourself and risk permanent health issues just for a dance team membership ... I haven't seen the maturity level required to do the right thing in any of your posts. There is a reason why another member guessed your age at 16 ... that is what your posts read like .. a petulant child who cannot deal with hearing the truth about their choices.

You can't seriously expect people to support you in an unhealthy goal. It's one of the things that's great about this place, is that they know 'support' is about teiiling people what's right, not what they want to hear. Dancer or not, no one is going to tell you that 47kg is a smart or healthy weight for you. Sorry you are too wrapped up in yourself to see that for the good advice it is.

I very highly doubt that you're hitting 100% of all of the vitamins and minerals you need based on the diet you've described to us so far. Either way, you really need to talk to your coach and/or dietitian on this. Be open and honest with them about your intake and your concerns. If your coach is truly asking you to strive for an unhealthy BMI to stay on the dance team, then that's a whole other set of concerns that should be addressed.

You ARE risking your health. You can kiss your muscle and energy for dancing goodbye if you continue on down that path, and then where will you be? Sick, unhealthy and definitely not dancing.

You can't expect any of us to support something like that.

You CAN eat more than 1200 calories.
You can also seek help from a professional. I recommend that you do.

My fitness pal says I need 1200 calories per day but I can never get myself to eat that much. I feel that might hinder my weight loss and my goal weight is 47 kgs. And I started at 55. It never calculates my food intake but I can't eat 1200 I just can't.

Disordered goals to stay on a dance team ... is the risk of your long term health really worth it?

I definitely wouldn't say I'm risking my health. I wouldn't go to that extent plus I have parents who are extremely healthy who make sure of it. But it's just something I'm dedicated to and I eat very healthy that has to kept in mind!

Where was the nutritionist in these posts? This is something you're inflicting unnecessarily upon yourself.

No dancer I know would be pushing for that sort of unhealthy weight compared to their heights. And I work with professional dancers who do this for a living! No way they only eat 1200 calories and are able to do their warmups, practices, and performances. I have seen them eat!

Really? YOU wouldn't say that you are risking your health, but darling, you have absolutely no education in that field so your opinion means nothing. The medical community DOES say you are risking your health. Your hair will start to fall out, your teeth will become loose, your skin will get dry and scaly, you'll likely get terrible cellulite after the muscles in your body waste away, and you'll also probably have a hard time keeping up with your dance team because you'll have no energy and will probably start getting dizzy and passing out. Never mind organ failure and all of that fun stuff. This is not about what kinds of food you are eating, but rather that you will have to basically starve yourself to become underweight.

I highly doubt that your dance coach is requiring this of you. I also highly doubt that your parents know what is going on and that they support you in losing weight. I mean all of this in the best way possible. The choices you make now on how you treat your body WILL affect you from here on out. It sounds to me like you have entered or are entering the realm of ED with all of this talk about joy being able to eat 1200 calories because you are worried it will make it so you can't lose weight. Please, please get help.

One more thing, I could eat 500 calories of brocolli every day and say I'm "full" and "satisfied" but that wouldn't change the fact that I would be starving myself.
