Has anyone actually tried this? There are things online and "doctors" coming out with services where they using cooling technology to basically melt fat off.
Just curious if anyone has actually tried this.

No.
Just no.
Calorie deficit. Eat less than you burn. Save your money and don't buy into the money making schemes.0 -
Sounds like some "doctors" found a way to separate gullible people from their money.0

Well, shivering does burn calories, but I hate to be cold.0

I go into a walk in freeze after I workout and read magazines and check emails... Has not worked yet..
But I am steadfast in my feat..

I'm pretty cool and I burn fat0

SMH. People will try anything other than actually eating right and exercising.0

The only melting they do is melting money from your bank account.0

Ha, yeah, I know. I just wanted to see if anyone has actually done it. It's amusing at least.
I might try in 5 years if it's still around. If it's a joke, it will probably be gone by then...

That is actually pretty interesting. Sounds like a non-surgical alternative to liposuction.0 -
If it works...so give it a go and let us know?
I might hang out in the whole foods beer room 30 minutes a day in the mean time.0 -
I'm going to go home and stick a popsicle in my belly button.0

There is a weird doctor near my town that does this. I'd rather pull out my own finger nails than let him near me lol0

I doubt that would do the same thing, but let us know how that works out for you.
I couldn't find anything that said how they freeze the fat cells enough to kill them without also freezing the skin. I wonder how that works.0 -
I swallowed a mini fan once while it was still on..i actually gained weight...0

It works, but it can cause permanent nerve damage. You can only reduce a spot about the size of a stick of butter. So if it is effective, it can leave you with divots and ridges.
There are only three technologies I know of that work and cool sculpting is one of them. But I wouldn't have it done, even if it was given to me for free.0 -
I use cryotherapy to aid in recovery after long runs and to manage swelling and inflammation. In the past few weeks, I have noticed that the waiting room is FILLED with women using the therapy sessions to lose weight. There must have been an article or television show that hyped weight loss because my center does not advertise any weight loss effect.
However, I have noticed some incidental weight loss. I can easily add an extra run the day after my cryo session -a run I would have been incapable of completing otherwise. But that still requires eating right and exercising...and cryotherapy is a very expensive way to lose an extra pound a month.0 -
so if I stick my head in the freezer for an hour a day, how much weight will I lose?0

Yep.
In this case, if it isn't a complete load of you-know-what, one actually can spot reduce. I looked it up a while ago and the clinical tests showed slight but statistically significant localized decreases in fat deposits. Not enough for me to spend money giving it a try, but enough that I don't dismiss it as being utter quackery. At least, not until there's a follow-up study that fails to reproduce the initial results.0 -

You can only freeze a spot the size of a stick of butter? You mean ever, or only something that size per session, or what?0 -

There is actually some science behind it, but they have a way to go before applying it for weight loss strategies. Berkeley has done a study on it in mice - http://newscenter.berkeley.edu/2015/01/08/energy-burning-brown-fat-protein/ and several other studies have confirmed its potential. I suspect that there is just enough behind it to allow the snake-oil salesmen to profit, but right now it is still in research stages. Diet and exercise are still the best!0
