I am getting an apple watch in July (is on backorder) Just curious if anyone has one and if so, what do you think of it as far as tracking your activity?

I would say the jury is out. Coming from a Fitbit which worked very well, it seems different.
I get no negative calories on days I'm lazy and don't seem to rack up the exercise calories as quickly either. I think overall I'm eating less as a result, so it works on that level, but I can't help feeling the calculation isn't quite right. I could probably correct this by adjusting my goal, but then I wonder if the fitbit was wrong all this time....
Probably still needs tweaking at both Apple and MFP's ends to get it right. But if you have nothing to compare it to I'm sure you'd find it pretty good.
Lovely device though.0 -
I am on my second day of wearing my Apple Watch - 38m Sport Black and Space Gray. I wore a nike fuel band that died in March for three years.. Full Disclosure - total Apple Junkie. I had to work yesterday, and was pretty amazed that I got "Haptic'd" to stand three times. I like the heart rate being measured throughout the day and recorded. I forgot I had it on till I needed to know what time it was or I had a text coming in from my husband or hadn't stood up in the last 50 minutes. I am tweaking the "iOS" feed to record my activity to MFP later today when I have time. The only non apple maps I plan to use is a tuner while I play my horn, which I will test today. The best thing about it is getting calendar reminders, texts and caller id on my wrist vs looking at my iPhone and only having to wear one item for fitness and what time it is. Because I use it like that, I don't have the battery wear down. I like that I can change the watch face and that it works independent of the iPhone on fitness and time and tuner. I don't forsee junking it up with a lot of apps and honestly don't even think I will use the starbucks ap on it.0

I have had mine since April 20th. It’s the best money I’ve spent on anything lately.
It tracks calories differently than other trackers and calls them active calories, those you burn above your BMR. So the numbers look lower than wirh other devices. For the total daily count or combines them with resting calories for the total.
Right now there is a recognized bug in that out calculates resting calories too high but that should be fixed in a software update, hopefully soon.
Other than that I couldn’t be happier with everything it does. And battery life is great. It easily gets through the whole day with plenty to spare.0 -
I ordered one but canceled the order after I was told the watch did not have GPS.0

Very nice review and pretty much in line with what other reviewers of the Apple Watch have said. I liked the comparison that you did and found that to be very helpful.0
